Can I drink green tea if I have chronic gastritis?

The treatment of chronic gastritis takes time, and simply taking medicine cannot achieve the best therapeutic effect. It must be combined with normal diet. A good diet is conducive to promoting the recovery of chronic gastritis, which many patients know. But there are some foods that patients cannot judge the impact on the disease, and green tea is one of them. So, can people with chronic gastritis drink green tea? Let’s take a look below.

People with gastritis can drink tea. It is recommended to drink black tea and ripe Pu'er tea, which can nourish the stomach, but do not drink tea that is too strong. It is best to leave some time between meals.

What food is good for chronic gastritis?

1. Staple foods: mainly rice, steamed buns, noodles, bread, buns, dumplings, wontons, porridge and other varieties. Because each patient's condition and eating habits are different, the choice of staple food will also be different. But in general, fermented foods are easier to digest than unfermented ones; foods with stuffing are often not easy to cook thoroughly and the stuffing is too greasy or rough, making them difficult to digest; porridge is the most recommended food for nourishing and protecting the stomach. Eating porridge can be used as an auxiliary treatment for stomach problems.

2. Meat: You can choose fresh, lean pork, chicken breast, duck meat, fish fillets, etc., and eat them after fine processing and cooking; do not eat greasy or stale meat. People usually think that beef, mutton, and dog meat are tonic foods and eating more of them can strengthen the body. However, beef has coarse muscle fibers and is difficult to digest. Mutton and dog meat are sweet and hot in nature, and are yang-tonifying foods. However, gastritis patients are mostly diagnosed with stagnation of heat and yin damage with internal dampness and heat. Eating them will further damage the yin, which is not conducive to the condition, so it is better not to eat them.

3. Eggs: The tonic effect of eggs is well known, but you should not eat too many eggs a day. 1-2 eggs are appropriate. Patients with stomach problems should choose soft egg custard, which is the easiest to digest and absorb, to cook and eat.

4. Milk: Patients with stomach problems who like to drink milk but do not suffer from lactose intolerance such as bloating, abdominal pain or diarrhea can drink it in moderation, 250 grams per day is appropriate. However, patients with atrophic gastritis with low stomach acid are best not to drink or drink less milk, because milk has always been believed to neutralize stomach acid, while it is consumed in large quantities when treating ulcers caused by excessive stomach acid.

5. Legumes and fruits: Soybeans have high nutritional value, but due to their internal structure and the presence of trypsin inhibitors, many people often feel bloating, indigestion, and even diarrhea after eating fried, boiled, or stir-fried soybeans. Soy products are easier to digest than soybeans, but some people, especially those with stomach problems, will still experience the above-mentioned symptoms after eating them. Foods such as red beans, mung beans, and jujubes have good functions of clearing heat and detoxifying, promoting dampness, and strengthening the spleen and stomach. However, the bean skins and jujube skins are difficult to digest and sometimes can induce ulcer bleeding. Therefore, they should be boiled into porridge and the skins should be discarded before eating.
