The surface of our eyeball can be simply divided into two parts: the black pupil and the white pupil.

Since there are so few blood vessels, why does it look like there are bloodshot?

This is because the surface of the sclera is covered with a thin layer of tissue - the conjunctiva. It is soft, smooth and transparent, and contains abundant capillaries. Under normal circumstances, they are not visible to the naked eye. What situations can easily cause red bloodshot eyes?

1. Excessive use of eyes. 3. Abuse of cosmetics. Nowadays, many women who love beauty like to put on eye makeup. However, long-term heavy makeup may irritate the eyes, damage the skin around the eyes, destroy the skin's stratum corneum, and weaken the elasticity of capillaries, causing them to rupture or dilate, thereby causing red blood streaks. 4. Wear contact lenses. If first-time wearers cannot wear and care for the lenses correctly, red bloodshot eyes are likely to appear; wearing the lenses for too long may cause corneal hypoxia and redness; if the contact lenses press too tightly on the eyeballs or the lenses have poor oxygen permeability, red bloodshot eyes may also appear; some people are allergic to certain chemicals in the solutions used to clean or soak and maintain contact lenses, which can also cause red eyes.
