How to preserve golden cicada

Golden cicada refers to the treated larvae, also known as cicada pupae, which is a food rich in protein and is also a particularly popular food in the northern region. After catching the cicada, it needs to be processed in a certain way and then preserved so that you can enjoy this delicacy for a long time. So, how to preserve the golden cicada? 1. How to store golden cicada in the refrigerator

There are two ways to freeze golden cicada without adding water, freezing raw and freezing half-cooked:

Eight mature:

1. Wash it several times, or soak it for a while before washing.

2. Steam or boil, otherwise it will turn black easily. Some places seem to use hot water directly, but I don’t agree with this method because it will not look good when fried. Steam and boil until 80% done.

3. Soak in cold water for 10 minutes, take out the cicada and put it in a small container (a mineral water bottle is the easiest), seal it, and store it in the refrigerator. If there is a lot, it is best to divide it into small portions, one portion is enough for one meal. When you need it, just take it out and cut the bottle open to avoid damaging the rest.

Raw:

Step 1 is the same as above. Step 2 is to put the cicada directly in water and add some salt. Step 3 is to put the cicada and salt water into a small bottle, seal it, and put it directly in the refrigerator. This is equivalent to salt processing, so it will not be particularly fresh when cooked and eaten.

2. How long can golden cicada be kept in the refrigerator?

If it is alive, it can be kept for 4-5 days. If it is kept longer, the taste will be bad.

Storage method: First wash the cicada with clean water, then put it into boiling water and cook for 3-5 minutes to sterilize it, pick it up and cool it down in clean water, and finally add some water to the container (preferably a plastic container, which is not easy to crack) to cover the cicada. It is best to put it in the freezer of the refrigerator and freeze it into ice cubes. This method can preserve it for more than half a year without any problems.

3. How to preserve golden cicada without turning black

Cryopreservation:

Simple method, low investment

1. Rinse the collected cicadas with clean water to remove mud and debris.

2. Add 2% salt and 1% alkali into clean water and boil.

3. Put the cleaned cicada into boiling water, stir it, and take it out after 3-5 minutes.

4. After the cicada has cooled completely, put it in the freezer for quick freezing.

(The alkali here refers to pure alkali, also called soda, which is the alkali used in steaming buns at home)

Vacuum storage:

A special vacuum sealer is required, which requires a large investment.
