How to clean a new iron pan for the first time

How to clean a new iron pan for the first time

There is an important kitchen utensil in every household's kitchen, that is, the iron pot. However, the newly bought iron pot cannot be used immediately. It needs to be cleaned thoroughly because there are many other chemical substances on the new iron pot, which can easily cause harm to the human body if eaten. When cleaning an iron pan, there are certain precautions to take, because improper cleaning can easily damage the iron pan and reduce its service life. So how should a newly purchased iron pan be cleaned?

How to clean a new iron pan for the first time:

1. First check whether there are labels inside and outside the new pot. If so, tear off the labels. Some labels are stuck tightly and difficult to tear off by hand. In this case, you can drop a few drops of medicated oil on the label. After the medicated oil is completely absorbed by the label, it will be easy to tear off.

2. Put two drops of dishwashing liquid (common brand will do) on a damp cotton cloth and wipe the pot inside and out with the cloth.

3. Wipe the pot lid as well.

4. Don’t forget to wipe the bottom of the pot.

5. Rinse with clean water (be sure to rinse thoroughly to remove all the dirt)

6. Pour boiling water and a little white vinegar into the pot, shake the pot to allow the vinegar water to clean every part of the inner pot.

7. Dry the pot with absorbent paper.

8. You can use the pot to cook anything you like without any worries.

Note:

1. For any stainless steel pot, do not use strong alkaline or strong oxidizing chemicals, such as soda, bleaching powder, sodium hypochlorite, etc. to wash the stainless steel pot to avoid corrosion to the product. Do not use too high a heat to heat (using high heat may cause the product to change color).

2. Stainless steel pots contain chromium and nickel. These two elements can withstand high temperatures below 400°C without being corroded in non-strong acid or non-strong alkali environments. However, if they are in contact with acidic or alkaline foods for a long time, chemical reactions will occur. Therefore, they are not suitable for storing salt, soy sauce, or vegetable soup for a long time, nor can they be used to decoct medicines.

How to remove rust from iron pan:

1. If an iron pan is rusted, you can heat the pan and wipe it with a cloth dipped in vinegar. This is simple, quick and thorough.

2. Rust removal with rice water: After use, iron spatulas, kitchen knives, iron spoons and other cooking utensils should be soaked in relatively concentrated rice water to prevent rust and remove rust.

3. Use onions to wipe the rusty knife and the rust will be removed easily.

4. Fill the new iron pot with water, add about 100 grams of alum, boil for 1 hour, scrub, pour out the dirty water, and then put the pot on the fire to dry. When it is hot, apply a layer of cooking oil inside and outside the pot while it is hot (to make the oil penetrate better), and use it after the pot cools down.

How can a newly bought iron pot not rust?

How to prevent the newly bought cast iron frying pan from rusting? The method is very simple, just use some things in your kitchen.

First, light the fire, put the newly bought iron pot on the fire, rub the pork skin back and forth on the heated iron pot, rub the inside of the pot all over, until the pork skin is rubbed thin and smoke comes out. (But you must turn on the range hood) This folk method is quite effective. Give it a try. This is how I treated my newly bought iron pot.

However, an iron pot is an iron pot after all, and it must be maintained. After the first use, the pot should be brushed clean after each use, and dried over the fire before being put away. Otherwise, it will still rust if there is residual water. In addition, the newly purchased cast iron pot cannot be used for cooking immediately. To remove the rust smell, there is the following method: heat the new cast iron pot for a while, then add the pork fat, and when the fat is cooked into oil, add the leek, and stir-fry until fragrant, discard the lard and leek, and the pot can be used.
