How to release air from a pressure cooker

The pressure cooker needs to be vented after use. The pot can only be opened after all the air pressure inside is released. If the pot is forced open, the air pressure inside will be very strong and may rush to the roof if you are not careful, and may even explode. It is necessary to vent the pressure cooker during use.

Method of venting the pressure cooker after use: After cooking, it can be cooled naturally at cooking room temperature. If it is to be eaten immediately, forced cooling method (i.e. spraying or immersing it in water) can be used to reduce the pressure. After cooling, you can gently lift out the pressure limiting valve to release the remaining gas.

Tips for safe use of pressure cookers:

1. Do not put a rag or other objects on the pressure limiting valve, as this may cause the pressure limiting valve to be blocked, resulting in failure and causing an accident.

2. Before using the pressure cooker, check whether the lid is sealed, whether the exhaust system is unobstructed, and whether the pressure limiting valve is in place.

3. The food in the pot should not exceed 4/5 of the capacity (including the height of the liquid level). When cooking beans, it is best not to exceed 2/3 of the capacity to prevent the food from producing gas during steaming and causing expansion, which may clog the exhaust hole. The food in the pot should not be too little.

4. Also check the aging of the rubber gasket. Rubber seals will age over time with use. The aging of the rubber ring can easily cause the pressure cooker to leak, so it is necessary to update it in time.

5. The lid and the pot body must be original or of matching models. Do not use a pressure cooker with a lid and pot body that do not match, otherwise it is very easy to cause danger.

6. The pressure cooker cannot be opened in the middle of cooking. After cooking, let the pressure cooker cool down properly before opening it. It is not advisable to open the pressure limiting valve immediately. You can rinse the lid with cold water to quickly reduce the temperature and pressure. Wait until there is no airflow through the pressure limiting valve before opening the lid.
