The dangers of drinking and swimming

We often drink alcohol in our daily lives, and our country's wine culture has always been very rich. Nowadays, wine has become an indispensable part of our daily life. Wine is indispensable at the dinner table during festivals, gatherings with friends, and when accompanying clients. However, although wine tastes good, it should not be consumed in excess. There are also many taboos after drinking, and if we are not careful in our lives, it will cause harm. Some people ask, even if you are not drunk after drinking, what are the dangers of swimming in the water?

1. Cause hypoglycemia

Under normal circumstances, the glucose reserves in the liver can maintain body temperature. If you take a shower immediately after drinking, the glucose stored in the body will be consumed in large quantities due to the accelerated blood circulation. In addition, alcohol inhibits the normal physiological activities of the liver, leading to the recovery of glucose storage in the body. This can easily cause fatigue, hypoglycemia and shock, and even life-threatening conditions.

2. Affect liver metabolism

People feel tired after taking a shower. This is because the body consumes a large amount of glucose when taking a shower, and potassium and sodium ions are lost when sweating. After taking a shower after drinking alcohol, blood sugar levels will drop to varying degrees. The glycogen originally stored in the liver will be continuously converted into glucose and added to the blood to prevent blood sugar from dropping. The alcohol is metabolized from the liver, thus affecting the liver's role in sugar metabolism.

3. Increased drunkenness

When taking a bath, people will sweat and the alcohol concentration in the blood will increase. In addition, hot water promotes blood circulation, which often leads to drunkenness. In addition, alcohol's dilating effect on skin blood vessels may also cause collapse or shock, and in severe cases even death.

4. Taking a hot bath can increase blood pressure

When alcohol enters the human body, it excites the cerebral cortex and heart, and accelerates blood circulation. Taking a shower immediately after drinking will cause blood pressure to rise further under the stimulation of warm water. A sudden rise in blood pressure and an accelerated heartbeat can cause fainting. If you already have hypertension, you may also suffer a stroke.

5. Cramps after taking a cold shower

After drinking, a person's body becomes hot. If a person takes a cold shower, the stimulation of the cold water will cause the muscles and blood vessels to contract sharply, and even cause cramps.

Disadvantages of swimming after drinking:

Swimming after drinking can easily lead to hypoglycemia and is not conducive to the metabolism of alcohol. During the metabolism process, alcohol needs to consume energy mainly provided by glucose and fat in the body. Swimming also consumes glycogen. This dual effect will cause excessive consumption of glycogen in the body and cause hypoglycemia. In addition, when swimming after drinking, the calories needed by the body are often provided by ethanol, which can easily cause fat accumulation in the liver and inhibit the normal physiological function of the liver.

The more you drink, the more dangerous it is to swim. After drinking, the stimulation of alcohol on the brain causes brain nerve disorders. The consequence of central nervous system disorder is the brain's loss of control over the digestive, motor, respiratory, endocrine and other systems, causing functional imbalances in these systems. For example, some people feel drowsy and unclear after drinking and just want to sleep. This is a protective reflex of the brain. After getting drunk, the brain has difficulty controlling the movement of the body's muscles and making it impossible to make correct swimming movements. Going into the water at this time can easily cause a person to sink to the bottom of the water or choke. When the respiratory system cannot be controlled freely, people breathe through their noses instead of their mouths. Once water enters the alveoli through the nostrils, it can easily cause suffocation, putting people’s lives in danger.

Experts pointed out that based on common sense, people who drink alcohol generally eat very little, and swimming easily consumes energy, which quickly puts people in a state of swimming on an empty stomach. Swimming on an empty stomach is most likely to make people tired and is also prone to accidents.
