What harm does tin foil do to the human body

Speaking of tinfoil, we naturally think of barbecue and grilling. Wrapping the meat with tinfoil when grilling or grilling is not only not easy to burn, but also makes the meat tender and juicy. This method is especially popular with everyone. In fact, this practice is wrong. Tin foil is made of plastic and aluminum foil. If you burn or bake it directly, it will release carcinogens such as benzopyrene and dioxin, which is very harmful to human health.

1. Heavy metal pollution

It has not yet been confirmed whether wrapping food in tin foil before baking can prevent the production of carcinogens. But regardless of whether it has the function of isolating carcinogens, tinfoil can easily cause heavy metal pollution.

2. Lead poisoning

Since aluminum contains a large amount of lead, once the stability of aluminum foil does not meet the standard or comes into direct contact with open flames, lead is likely to dissolve. If people often eat this contaminated food, it will affect the normal functioning of the human nervous system, hematopoietic system, cardiovascular system, and digestive system. Among them, the nervous system is susceptible to damage by lead, which can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, insomnia, irritability, headache and hyperactivity.

Lead can also inhibit the synthesis of hemoglobin and antagonize elements such as iron, zinc, and calcium, inducing anemia, which worsens with the increase of lead poisoning. Although baking food with tin foil will not cause poisoning to the human body, it will have an impact on the human body if it is baked with an open flame.

That is to say, if you wrap tin foil when baking in the oven, then there is no problem. However, if you use tin foil directly on the grill, it will be harmful to your health. What is really harmful is not the tinfoil itself, but some people do not know the correct way to use tinfoil. If they use it in the wrong way, some problems will of course arise.

3. How to use tin foil correctly

When you use the oven to bake ingredients at home, steaks, chicken wings and other foods tend to have juice flowing out during baking. At this time, you can put a layer of tin foil on the baking tray. This way, the juice will stay on the tin foil and will not seep into the plate. It also makes it easier to clean the plate.

Generally, when using tin foil, the matte side is used to contact the food, and the photosensitive side faces outward, so that the food can be heated evenly and prevented from burning. When lining the baking tray, make sure the tin foil reaches the edge of the tray.
