The harm of drinking to the heart

Although drinking is unavoidable in some situations, it still causes great harm to the body, especially excessive drinking, which not only harms our stomach but also stimulates our brain. Research shows that people who drink excessively when they are young are more likely to develop Alzheimer's disease when they are old. This is the long-term paralyzing effect of alcohol on our brain. Therefore, it is best to stay away from tobacco and alcohol in daily life to keep yourself healthy.

In healthy people, the heart's contractile function may be reduced after drinking alcohol, and this change is reversible. In addition, drinking alcohol can also increase the heart rate and dilate peripheral blood vessels, which is not good for patients with certain cardiovascular diseases. Some healthy people may experience supraventricular or ventricular arrhythmias after a heavy drink. Since this often occurs after heavy drinking during holidays, this syndrome is called "holiday heart disease." It is caused by the effects of alcohol and sympathetic nerve excitement and will gradually return to normal after stopping drinking.

Long-term and heavy drinking can lead to heart failure, manifested as ventricular enlargement and decreased left ventricular systolic function. The appearance and disappearance of the lesions are related to drinking. When drinking stops, the heart failure can be improved or at least not further deteriorate. However, heart failure will recur after drinking again. If this situation occurs repeatedly, it will cause irreversible damage to the myocardium, so that there is still progressive deterioration of heart function after drinking stops, causing "alcoholic cardiomyopathy."

In addition, the incidence of atrial fibrillation in alcoholics is also very high. If alcohol is stopped early, the atrial fibrillation caused by poisoning can be reversed or stabilized. Alcohol is a pure energy food. Long-term and heavy drinking can increase weight, affect the body's sugar metabolism and increase triglyceride production. Obesity and hyperlipidemia are both risk factors for coronary heart disease. Therefore, long-term and heavy drinking can increase the incidence of coronary heart disease, and the coronary heart disease mortality rate of heavy drinkers also increases.

It is not difficult to see that drinking a small amount of low-alcohol wine has a positive significance in preventing cardiovascular diseases; long-term and large-scale drinking of strong alcohol is extremely harmful to health. In view of the harm that drinking can cause to many systems such as digestion, central nervous system, reproduction, and the series of transportation, social and other problems that may be caused by drinking, relevant experts recommend not recommending moderate drinking as one of the measures to prevent cardiovascular disease.

I advise you not to drink too much. Middle-aged people who already have the habit of drinking should limit and reduce their drinking amount. It is advisable to drink low-alcohol drinks during holidays or when meeting with friends and relatives. Patients with existing cardiovascular diseases must quit drinking. Children and teenagers should not drink alcohol.
