What are the causes of choice phobia?

1. Too much pursuit of perfection

Some people seek perfection in everything, attach too much meaning to the things they choose, and even become compulsive and unable to make a decision easily.

2. Choosing the wrong path causes psychological trauma

Some people have made wrong choices in major matters, such as choosing the wrong major or job, which has made them struggle at a certain stage in their lives and will affect their future choices.

3. Personality reasons

Some patients with decision phobia are highly dependent and lack autonomy. They hesitate easily and don't know how to make choices. Over time, they will become afraid when they see themselves having to make a choice.

4. Poor sense of independence and fear of taking responsibility

Children raised by overbearing parents are highly dependent and have a poor sense of independence. When they grow up, they often do not dare to make decisions easily. Parents who are simple and rough may raise children who are afraid of taking responsibility.

1. Ignore your thoughts. We must realize that the brain's random thoughts are its normal function, so there is no need for us to care about its "random thoughts". As long as you don't pay attention to it deliberately, accept it with a calm mood, and say to yourself with a relaxed attitude, "Just think about it, it's no big deal!" Over time, when you really don't take it seriously and really relax your mind, this situation will gradually disappear.

2. Divert your attention. When you keep thinking and cannot stop, the most important thing is to find a way to divert your attention and get away from the reality of repeated thinking as soon as possible. For example, once you are thinking about other things and cannot stop, immediately do something that interests you or listen to music. At this time, your attention will be fully focused on the thing or music that interests you, and you may forget the associated situation and stop thinking.

3. Learn to face setbacks. The sky has its ups and downs, and people have their joys and sorrows. Nothing in the world can be perfect, so there is the beauty of imperfection, the beauty of twists and turns, etc. Therefore, we may face obstacles, setbacks, and even unexpected mistakes every day. Of course, when we have tried our best, we cannot be too demanding on ourselves. The result of being too demanding on ourselves can only make us feel disappointed, failed, and lose confidence.

4. Invest in your hobbies. Find something that you like most and enjoy doing most. When you devote yourself to it, your problems will disappear. Enrich your life and make your spare time more fulfilling. For example, take part in sports and cultural activities, listen to music, dance and sing, etc. When you are busy, you will no longer be depressed and you will feel relaxed. Once enriching your spare time becomes a habit, your problems will be solved.

5. Standardize your work and make your work procedural and standardized as much as possible. The so-called "proceduralization" means processing according to certain steps, while "standardization" means processing according to certain regulations. For example, if you are currently working as a bonsai caretaker, we will design a procedural step based on what you do, and then follow this step. Over time, it will become a habit and you will not make mistakes.

6. Adjust your life status, actively participate in various cultural and sports activities, and make boring daily life colorful; when you find yourself thinking over and over again and cannot stop, you can take a deep breath to relax. This way you can eliminate distracting thoughts, keep calm, and stop daydreaming. What should you do if you find yourself suffering from a fear of making choices? Fear of making choices is a condition that many people will encounter, and the degree varies from person to person. But if you find it difficult to make decisions on many things, it's time to adjust yourself and improve.

7. Analyze yourself and learn to change. First, you need to analyze why you are afraid to make choices. Is it because you are afraid of taking responsibility? Or is it because you refuse to grow up? Be clear about the root cause of your difficulty in making choices, and then analyze it in detail to change and improve yourself.

8. Build self-confidence. Many difficulties in making choices are actually caused by inner inferiority. Therefore, if you want to fundamentally change the difficulties in making choices, you must learn to accept and please yourself and build up self-confidence. I believe that long-term exercise will lead to great improvement. Don't demand too much from yourself. No one is perfect. If you pursue perfection too much and demand too much from yourself, you will easily become worried about gains and losses. Try to accept your current situation and don’t care what others think. The more people fear making mistakes, the more helpless they will feel.

9. Face difficulties. People with decision-making difficulties always tend to avoid making choices, fearing that they will make a fool of themselves and not facing them. In fact, escape cannot eliminate tension. On the contrary, it makes people feel cowardly and blame themselves, which will make them more nervous next time. But people cannot escape it all their lives, and it will be difficult to live comfortably.

10. Learn to self-regulate. Everything in the world has two sides, and there is no completely right or wrong choice. It mainly depends on how people look at it. Different ways of cognition will lead to different views on things. So when faced with choices, you don't need to think too much. The only things that need to be considered are two or more options that are not too different. If there are many differences between the two or more options, and it is clear at a glance which one is better and which one is worse, then people won't feel very painful when making choices. Since the difference between two or more options is not big, people don't need to be too embarrassed when choosing.
