Can a bitten tongue heal itself?

Generally speaking, if the tongue is bitten, as long as it is not particularly serious, it will heal on its own. This is because our saliva has certain anti-inflammatory and bactericidal effects, which can promote the healing of the damaged area. Of course, if the tongue bite is severe, formal treatment is needed at this time, such as cold compresses. You should also pay attention to oral hygiene to avoid worsening inflammation.

How to treat a tongue bite

The tongue has a rich blood supply, and generally this condition will heal on its own without treatment.

1. If you are bitten, you should first pay attention to disinfection and cleaning. If there are blood blisters, try to bite them open.

If the wound is very painful, you can apply some watermelon frost spray externally. Spray watermelon frost on the wound, keep silent and leave it for a while. Can be used several times a day.

2. When bleeding occurs inside the lips, gums, etc., do not turn your lips over, otherwise it will pull the wound and aggravate the bleeding.

You can press the bleeding area with sterile gauze or a clean cloth for 10 minutes to stop the bleeding. In case of persistent, mild bleeding on the tongue, lips and other parts of the body, press the affected area with a wet tea bag for 10 minutes. The tannin contained in the tea can stop the bleeding.

After the bleeding stops, you can use ice cubes or popsicles to cool the wound for 20 minutes. It is important to note that after an injury, you must ensure that you drink enough water to prevent dehydration; at the same time, avoid chewing food frequently and try to eat soft things; eat less salty or citrus foods to prevent stinging the wound.

Because spicy food can irritate the tongue. Avoid overheating food, keep it warm or cool. When eating, be careful to avoid irritating foods and foods that may irritate wounds, and rinse your mouth immediately after eating.

2. Press the injured part of the tongue with ice cubes or popsicles. If bleeding continues after 30 minutes, take the child to the hospital.

3. Within one or two days after the injury, try to feed your child softer food and avoid sour, spicy and other irritating foods.
