What to do if your tongue is damaged

What to do if your tongue is damaged

If you do not pay attention to conditioning in daily life, your tongue may be damaged. There are many reasons for tongue damage, such as biting your tongue with your teeth while eating, or oral ulcers causing blisters and swelling of the tongue. When this happens, you can use certain methods to treat it, such as ice compresses to relieve swelling and pain. You can also use aloe vera, which can achieve a good anti-inflammatory effect. You should also pay attention to oral hygiene.

What to do if your tongue is damaged

1. Apply and ice

1. Ice pack. Put ice cubes in a plastic bag and apply it to the bitten area for 10-15 minutes at intervals. You can feel the blood vessels slowly contracting and the pain being reduced.

2. Baking soda. Take a spoonful of baking soda and mix it with water. After it becomes diluted, apply it to the damaged area with a cotton swab. It can sterilize and reduce inflammation.

3. Aloe vera. The "healing artifact" aloe vera has a good effect on healing wounds. After rinsing your mouth, apply aloe juice or aloe gel to the wound three times a day to promote wound recovery through antibacterial effects.

2. Emergency treatment

1. Rinse your mouth. Rinse mouth with water to prevent infection.

2. Apply pressure to stop bleeding. Pressing your tongue against the roof of your mouth will create a pressure greater than that on the blood vessels and thus stop the bleeding. This method can not only make the blood coagulate, but also has an anti-inflammatory effect.

3. Check the wound. After the bleeding stops, check the wound. If it is shallow, you can ignore it. If it is deep, you need to go to the hospital to see if it needs stitches.

What causes tongue blistering?

1. What is the reason for tongue blistering? Is it caused by endocrine changes?

Tongue blistering caused by endocrine changes mostly occurs in women. Before and after menstruation, the level of progesterone in the body increases, while the level of estrogen (progesterone, etc.) decreases, leading to dry mouth and tongue ulcers.

2. Caused by mental factors

If tongue blistering occurs repeatedly, it may be caused by autonomic nervous system dysfunction, which is related to the patient's mental stress, mood swings, and poor sleep.

3. Caused by genetic factors

If both parents often have tongue blisters and mouth ulcers, their children have about 80% chance of getting the disease. If one of the parents often has these symptoms, their children have about 50% chance of getting the disease.

4. Lack of trace elements

Lack of trace elements such as zinc, iron, folic acid, vitamin B12 or malnutrition will reduce resistance, which is also one of the factors that cause tongue blisters.
