Why do I always feel sleepy and lack energy?

If you always feel that you have no energy and don't want to do anything and just want to sleep, you may be suffering from sub-health. There are many reasons that lead to sub-health, such as improper diet, lack of exercise, staying up late for a long time, mental tension and always being under great pressure, etc., which may all lead to sub-health. Therefore, you must pay attention to balanced nutrition, adequate sleep and moderate exercise in normal times.

Clinical manifestations

The main characteristics of sub-health include: ① Various symptoms reflected by the feeling of physical and mental discomfort, such as fatigue, weakness, mood changes, etc., the conditions of which are difficult to clarify for a considerable period of time; ② Various manifestations of weakness caused by tissue structure or physiological function decline that is not suitable for age; ③ Microecological imbalance; ④ Pre-morbid physiological and pathological changes of certain diseases.

The clinical manifestations are varied. Physically, it may manifest as fatigue, muscle and joint pain, dizziness and headache, palpitations, chest tightness, sleep disorders, loss of appetite, abdominal discomfort, loose stools and constipation, sexual dysfunction, fear of cold and heat, susceptibility to colds, dry eyes, etc. Psychologically, it may manifest as depression, restlessness, anxiety, irritability, fear, memory loss, inability to concentrate, lack of energy, slow reaction, etc. Socially, it may manifest as an inability to assume corresponding social roles well, difficulties in work and study, inability to handle interpersonal and family relationships properly, and difficulty in engaging in normal social interactions.

Epidemiology

Domestic research on sub-health is mostly limited to cross-sectional surveys, and the tools used are mostly self-assessment scales or questionnaires. These surveys involve different groups of people, including teachers, civil servants, business personnel, community residents, and medical personnel. Due to the inconsistency in the definitions of sub-health and the questionnaires or scales used in various studies, the sub-health detection rates reported in various studies vary greatly, mostly between 20% and 80%. The detection rate of sub-health varies among different genders, ages, and occupations, and has nothing to do with place of birth or nationality. In general, the detection rate in women is higher than that in men, and the incidence rate is higher in the 40-50 age group than in other age groups, and among teachers and civil servants.

The main causes of sub-health are: unreasonable diet, lack of exercise, irregular work and rest, lack of sleep, mental tension, high psychological pressure, long-term negative emotions, etc.

Classification

Based on the clinical manifestations of sub-health status, it is divided into the following categories: ① Mainly manifested by physical symptoms such as fatigue, sleep disorders, or pain; ② Mainly manifested by mental and psychological symptoms such as depression, anxiety, irritability, fear, or short-term memory loss, inability to concentrate; ③ Mainly manifested by decreased frequency of interpersonal communication, or tense interpersonal relationships and other decreased social adaptability. If any of the above three symptoms persists for more than three months and a systematic examination has ruled out any disease that may cause the above symptoms, the person may be judged to be in a state of physical sub-health, psychological sub-health, or social sub-health, respectively. Clinically, the above three sub-health manifestations often appear simultaneously.
