Hand pierced by shrimp, life in danger

Hand pierced by shrimp, life in danger

Many people think that shrimps cooked in restaurants are unhygienic, but if they want to eat shrimps, they will buy them and cook them themselves. But for those novices who have never handled shrimps or are not used to handling them, it is easy to get stung by shrimps. After being pierced by a shrimp, the wound should be disinfected in time, otherwise it is easy to get infected, and in severe cases it may be life-threatening. So, what should you do if you are stung by a shrimp and are in danger of death?

Wash with soapy water first, then wipe with alcohol or iodine.

1. Wash with soapy water first, then wipe with alcohol or iodine. Possibly apply ice. You can also apply a small amount of honey, propolis wine, or royal jelly on your fingers. Can't touch cold water. It is best to use warm water to wash your hands and face. Generally, it will heal on its own after six or seven days.

2. Shrimp are divided into two types according to their production sources: marine shrimp and freshwater shrimp. Sea shrimps are also called red shrimps, including lobsters, prawns, etc. Among them, prawns taste the best, are top-notch food and a famous seafood product.

3. Shrimp is an arthropod crustacean, and there are many types, including green shrimp, river shrimp, grass shrimp, crayfish, shrimp (white shrimp, blue shrimp), prawns, shrimp, mantis shrimp, lobster, etc.

Stab wounds are most likely to cause acute suppurative dactylitis. When these fish, shrimps, crabs, etc. accidentally scratch your fingers, the bacteria on them will multiply in the wound. "Dr. Ying Xiaozhang said that some people may be able to kill these bacteria by applying some ointment, but some people have cells in their bodies that allow bacteria to parasitize. If they cut their fingers with fish bones, apply ointment, and then wrap it with a Band-Aid, these bacteria will reproduce in a suitable temperature and environment.

"After a night of bacterial reproduction, the wound on the finger will become red and swollen. At first, there will be a needle-like pain. When the digital artery is compressed, the pain will turn into throbbing pain, which will worsen when the arm is hanging down." Dr. Ying Xiaozhang said that if the wound is caused by fish bones or other things, the wound is small and deep. If it is not cleaned and disinfected in time, the hot weather will easily lead to worsening of the infection and even the need for amputation. If it develops into sepsis, it can be life-threatening.

If you are stabbed, you can soak it in povidone iodine

If there is a thorn in the wound, remove it immediately.

"When the fingers become red and fat, it means an infection has occurred. During the swelling period, antibacterial drugs such as cephalosporin and penicillin are needed to reduce inflammation, and then surgical methods such as debridement and decompression are used to reduce the swelling of the fingers. After the operation, ointment should be applied externally and infrared irradiation treatment should be used to speed up the healing of the finger wounds." said Dr. Ying Xiaozhang.

Severe suppurative infection of wounds is very harmful to the human body, especially suppurative infection of wounds on the hands, feet, etc. The causative bacteria are mostly Staphylococcus aureus. If the inflammation spreads further, the wound enlarges, tissues and organs become necrotic and defective, and scar tissue proliferates significantly after healing, it will cause varying degrees of functional impairment and deformity.

Dr. Ying Xiaozhang reminds us that we should pay attention to it in our daily lives and never take it lightly. If you are stabbed, it is best to soak the wound with 0.5% povidone iodine to help reduce inflammation and infection. At the same time, keep the wound clean and dry, and apply appropriate anti-inflammatory drugs. If there is a thorn in the wound, it must be removed immediately and go to the hospital for treatment if necessary to avoid delaying the condition.
