Contact lens care solution ingredients

Contact lens care solution ingredients

Due to work pressure, overwork in study, and some genetic factors, many people wear glasses. Glasses can improve our vision and temporarily restore our eyesight. In addition to wearing glasses, people with myopia also wear contact lenses. Contact lenses are different from other glasses. They need to be cared for with care solution before they can be worn normally. What are the ingredients of the care solution?

1. Overview

The main ingredients of contact lens care solution are sodium chloride and preservatives, etc. It is mainly used for cleaning, disinfecting, and removing proteins of biological materials. It is undoubtedly indispensable for people who wear contact lenses. However, some consumers reported adverse reactions such as eye redness and discomfort after wearing contact lenses. The main reason is that wearers have some misunderstandings when using contact lens care solutions. For this reason, the drug regulatory authorities remind consumers to choose and use contact lens care solution correctly.

2. Why use care solution?

Contact lens care solution is used every day by contact lens wearers. The deposits and pathogens on the lens surface must first be removed with the care solution so that the subsequent sterilization and preservation can be carried out effectively. Because deposits will remain on the surface of the lens if it is not completely cleaned, when sterilization is performed directly, the bactericidal ingredients will only combine with the deposits and cannot combine with pathogens. In this way, the bactericidal ingredients cannot play a bactericidal role.

3. The correct way to clean the lens

Studies have found that a complete and correct cleaning method can clean the deposits on the surface of the lens and kill 90% of pathogens. However, in actual use, many users only do simple cleaning and do not rub it with their hands. Experts point out that this is very wrong. Because rubbing the lenses with your hands is the most effective way to clean contact lenses is to use "your own hands", "lens cleaning solution", and "single-serving saline solution specially for contact lenses". The correct way is to drop lens cleaning liquid on the lens and rub the lens back and forth directly with your fingertips. After scrubbing, the lenses should be rinsed repeatedly with saline solution, and finally moisturized completely with saline solution. Only after the entire cleaning process is completed can sterilization be carried out.
