Elbow valgus correction

Elbow valgus correction

No one is born with a complete body. Some people may not develop well during the embryonic process or may be deformed due to long-term compression after birth. Patients with elbow valgus will affect their normal ability to move and may even have a certain impact on their body. Therefore, everyone should pay attention to finding appropriate treatment methods.

Pathogenesis

The most common cause of cubitus valgus deformity is the supracondylar fracture of the humerus and the distal humerus fracture in children, which are not reduced after injury or the reduction is not ideal and not corrected in time. It is mainly caused by the unbalanced growth and development of the medial and lateral sides (epiphysis) of the distal humerus.

If the lateral and medial condyle fractures of the humerus in children are not reduced in time or are poorly reduced, it may cause premature closure of the lateral condyle epiphysis or ischemic necrosis of the lateral condyle, leading to elbow valgus; the elbow valgus caused by the medial condyle fracture is due to the excessive growth of the medial condyle.

Other factors include unreduced or poorly reduced elbow dislocation; after radial head resection, the important mechanical barrier of the proximal radius disappears, resulting in secondary abnormalities in elbow and forearm biomechanics.
