Why do people feel weak in autumn

Why do people feel weak in autumn

We should all have heard of a term called spring sleepiness. When spring comes, we always feel groggy and as if we could fall to the ground and sleep in an instant. In fact, in autumn we also have a feeling that adapts to the season, that is, fatigue. No matter whether I got a good rest the night before, I always feel listless, with sore calves and weak limbs the next day. Why do people feel so tired in autumn?

Why do people feel weak in autumn?

What is lost in summer is made up in autumn

In midsummer, continuous high temperatures will bring about a series of physiological changes in the body. Excessive sweating will cause water and salt metabolism disorders, reduced gastric juice secretion, weakened gastrointestinal function, increased burden on the cardiovascular system, and the entire body is in a stage of over-consumption.

At the same time, high temperatures will increase the excitability of the nervous system, accelerate metabolism, and consume more energy. In addition, it is relatively difficult to get enough sleep in summer, and energy consumption cannot be effectively replenished, causing the body to be over-consumed.

After entering autumn, the climate becomes cool and pleasant, the human body sweats significantly less, the metabolism of water and salt gradually returns to balance, the burden on the cardiovascular system is reduced, the function of the digestive system gradually recovers, the metabolism of energy becomes relatively stable, and the body enters a periodic rest stage. The symptoms of excessive consumption in summer will appear at this time, and the human body is prone to an indescribable feeling of fatigue, which is the so-called "autumn fatigue."

To put it simply, the human body's functions are over-consumed in the summer, resulting in deficiency of both yin and yang in the body. In the autumn, consumption decreases. In order to balance the yin and yang in the body, it is necessary to restore the functions through rest and diet and make up for the losses in the summer.

What to do about autumn fatigue

Sleep an extra hour a day

The autumn nights are cool and pleasant, making it easier to fall asleep and the sleep quality is usually better. Even if you sleep for 8 hours and the sleep quality is good, but you still feel tired after getting up, you might as well sleep one more hour every day. You can go to bed at 10 pm in advance. If conditions permit, you can sleep for another hour in the afternoon. This can effectively relieve autumn fatigue and can also reduce the incidence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in the elderly.

Soak up the warm sunshine

The ultraviolet rays in the autumn sun are not as strong as those in the summer. Moderate sun exposure can inhibit the secretion of melatonin, effectively improve fatigue, and brighten people's spirits and moods. However, please note that you still need to avoid exposure to sunlight at noon when the ultraviolet rays are the strongest.

A light diet is also necessary

Although the weather in autumn is a little cooler, it is much drier than in summer. Eating too much greasy, spicy and other foods will not only increase the feeling of dryness, but also make the body produce more acidic substances that make people sleepy. The diet should be light, eat more vegetables and fruits, drink more warm water, and at the same time, eat some light and nourishing foods in moderation to make up for the loss in summer, such as duck meat, fish, seafood, soy products, etc.

Dry combing and stretching

After work or when you feel tired, you may use your fingers like a comb to comb your hair and massage your scalp for a while. This can effectively promote blood circulation in the head and make your mind feel relaxed. Alternatively, you can stretch your body to exert beneficial pressure on the heart and lungs, promote blood circulation in the extremities, and make your body feel comfortable. These can effectively relieve fatigue.
