How to reduce swelling of wound

In daily life and activities, people are bound to bump into things and get injured frequently. After getting injured, they need to take appropriate measures to avoid infection of the wound. If the wound is not treated properly, it may become infected. There may also be swelling. After the wound is swollen, some people will not take care of the wound, which will cause the wound to become more and more serious. If the wound is swollen, there are appropriate treatment methods. Let’s take a look at what to do if the wound is swollen?

If the wound is swollen, you can use 10% hypertonic glucose solution to moisten the area for about 5 minutes when changing the dressing every day, and then rinse it with saline to reduce the swelling. If there is obvious redness, swelling and exudate, the possibility of wound infection should be considered. In addition to daily dressing changes, oral or intravenous (i.e., drip) antibiotics should be used for anti-inflammatory treatment.

Since the blood circulation in the lower limbs is relatively poor, edema subsides relatively slowly. You can usually apply local hot compresses, try to avoid sitting or standing for long periods of time, and raise the affected limb to help reduce swelling. If there is no other discomfort, it is not considered a big problem. Consider the symptoms to be due to a bacterial infection. It is recommended to take cefixime dispersible tablets and amoxicillin clavulanate potassium for treatment, and avoid spicy and irritating foods.

When the wound forms a scab, there will be local redness, swelling and pain. Careful observation is needed to see if there is suppuration under the scab. It is recommended to take a rest, pay attention to local hygiene, avoid irritation, and keep the wound away from water. Disinfect the wound with iodine once a day. Go to the hospital for examination if necessary.

After the wound heals, it will also swell up because of poor local blood circulation, which leads to obstructed blood flow. In general, in this case, you should remember to keep your hands elevated when going to bed at night, and do local massage regularly. Once microcirculation is established, everything will be fine.

Local edema may be related to limited venous blood return, or hematoma formation in the wound, combined infection, etc. It is recommended to perform local color ultrasound and other examinations, apply hot compresses or electrotherapy, external application of Chinese and Western medicines, and if there is fluid accumulation, puncture and fluid extraction are performed for treatment.
