The method of measuring body temperature is relatively simple. Generally, body temperature is measured by clamping a thermometer under the armpit. Before measuring, we need to drop the thermometer a few times to return the mercury to below 35 degrees. This can ensure the accuracy of the measurement. Then, clamp it under the armpit for 5 minutes to measure the body temperature. There are many parts of the body for measuring temperature, and the measurement methods for each part are different. You can learn about it. Operation points: 1. Check the integrity of the thermometer and whether the mercury column is below 35 degrees. 2. Place the mercury end of the oral thermometer under the patient's tongue, close the mouth for 3 minutes, and then remove it. 3. Lubricate the mercury end of the rectal thermometer with oil, then gently insert it 3-4 cm and remove it after 3 minutes. 4. To measure the temperature under the armpit, wipe off the sweat under the armpit first, put the mercury end of the thermometer deep in the armpit, close to the skin, bend the arm over the chest, tighten the thermometer, and take it out after 5-10 minutes. It is recommended to use this method outside the hospital. 5. Wipe the used thermometer with gauze soaked in disinfectant and check the reading. Note: 1. Oral temperature measurement is not allowed for those with mental disorders, coma, infants and young children, oral diseases, oral and nasal surgery, breathing difficulties, or those who are unable to cooperate. 2. Wait 30 minutes after eating, smoking, or applying hot or cold compresses to the face before measuring the temperature with an oral thermometer. 3. Patients with rectal diseases, post-surgery, diarrhea, or myocardial infarction should not have their temperature measured rectally. After a hot water sitz bath or enema, rectal temperature measurement must be done 30 minutes later. 4. When measuring rectal temperature of infants, young children, mentally ill patients, and agitated patients, nurses need to hold the rectal thermometer in their hands to prevent the thermometer from breaking or entering the rectum and causing accidents. 5. People who are too thin should not use an axillary temperature meter. The axillary temperature can be measured 30 minutes after the patient has showered. |
