Can bone cancer be detected in a blood test?

Bone cancer is a common disease. Patients with bone cancer will find hard lumps on the surface of bones in the early stages. They will feel pain when they touch them. The cure rate of early bone cancer is very high. So what tests are needed to diagnose bone cancer? Can blood tests reveal bone cancer? Let's hear what the doctor says.

First of all, blood test is the most general and basic blood test. Blood is composed of two major parts: liquid and tangible cells. Blood test tests the cell part of blood. Blood has three types of cells with different functions: red blood cells (commonly known as red blood cells), white blood cells (commonly known as white blood cells), and platelets. Diseases are observed by observing changes in quantity and morphology. It is one of the commonly used auxiliary examination methods for doctors to diagnose diseases. However, for the early stage of bone cancer, blood test is meaningless, because in the early stage, whether it is red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets, there are no obvious changes.

When you go to the hospital to check for bone cancer, you usually need to do the following examinations: 1. Radiological examination

X-ray examination can provide valuable information for clarifying the nature, type, and extent of bone tumors and determining treatment strategies. It is an important examination method for bone tumors.

2. Pathological examination

Pathological histological examination is considered to be the most accurate diagnostic method, but pathological examination must be combined with clinical and X-ray examinations. Commonly used sampling and examination methods include needle biopsy, incisional biopsy, frozen section, paraffin section, etc.

3. Radionuclide examination

It can be used for early diagnosis of bone metastases.

4. CT and MRI

It can detect diseased tissue earlier with high accuracy.

5. Others

In osteosarcoma, the erythrocyte sedimentation rate is accelerated, and alkaline phosphatase may be increased in osteoblastic metastatic bone tumors.
