Pharyngeal tumor symptoms

Pharyngeal tumor symptoms

In recent years, the incidence of cancer has been increasing, and many uncommon cancers have also come into people's attention. The famous host Li Yong died of laryngeal cancer. It is said that laryngeal cancer is a relatively common disease among hosts, so everyone must understand the symptoms of pharyngeal tumors so that abnormalities can be discovered faster and race against time to treat the disease. Below is a detailed introduction to the symptoms of hypopharyngeal tumors.

1. Symptoms of Throat Cancer

1. Hoarseness

Tumors involving the vocal cords cause hoarseness or intermittent hoarseness. Hoarseness is the most common symptom of early laryngeal cancer. If patients find unexplained hoarseness, and the symptoms persist for more than three weeks without signs of gradual improvement, they should go to the hospital for timely medical treatment and have a careful laryngeal endoscopic examination by an ENT specialist.

2. Pain in the inner ear

When laryngeal cancer develops to a certain extent and produces ulcers and severe inflammation in the throat, it can cause reflex pain in the nerves. Early vocal cord tumors generally do not produce reflex pain. It mainly occurs in patients with mid- to late-stage acoustic tumors. The most common presentation is ipsilateral inner ear pain.

3. Abnormalities in the throat

A foreign body sensation, urgency, or discomfort when swallowing are the first symptoms of supraglottic cancer.

4. Difficulty swallowing

The hypopharyngeal tumor continues to grow and blocks the passage of food. This is an early symptom of supraglottic laryngeal cancer, but once the tumor originates from the vocal cords and develops to the middle and late stages, it will also cause a foreign body sensation in the throat or pain when swallowing.

5. Neck Lump

The patient seeks medical attention with the main complaint, and a mass is often palpated in the upper neck and behind the angle of the mandible. In the early stage, the metastatic lymph nodes are often swollen on the same side, while in the late stage, the contralateral side is often involved.

6. Reflex pain

When laryngeal cancer is accompanied by ulcers or laryngeal cartilage periostitis, it can cause reflex pain in the nerves, manifesting as headaches and earaches.

2. Prevention of Throat Cancer

1. Quit smoking and drinking

Long-term heavy drinking causes congestion and edema in the throat, and leads to malnutrition and low immune function, laying the foundation for the formation of cancer. Smoking directly damages the organ and causes laryngeal cancer. The longer the smoking period, the higher the incidence rate. Nicotine, coal tar and the benzopyrene it produces in cigarettes are all carcinogens.

2. Stay away from chemical carcinogens

Harmful gases and dust in the production process, such as silica dust, chloramine, bromine, iodine, etc., need to be properly handled. Workers who are in contact with harmful chemical gases for a long time should wear gas masks and protective isolation clothing.

3. Pay attention to precancerous lesions

Laryngeal leukoplakia is a precancerous lesion of laryngeal cancer. It is a white patch that appears on the mucosa due to poor keratinization of the vocal cord mucosal epithelium. It is a pathological change caused by upper respiratory tract infection, smoking, stimulation by harmful gases, excessive use of the voice, etc. It is closely related to the formation of laryngeal cancer and must be actively prevented and treated.

4. Prevent bad eating habits

Do not eat too much pickled vegetables, sour, spicy and irritating foods, and avoid eating moldy foods. This is especially important for people with chronic pharyngitis. We should develop good eating habits, such as eating less meat and more vegetables, and eating more fresh fruits and vegetables.

5. Avoid shouting

Improper vocalization or overuse of the voice may cause acute congestion or bleeding of the vocal cords. This is especially important during a cold. Also, do not over-vocalize and make sure your vocal cords have adequate rest. Pay attention to oral hygiene to prevent external unclean objects from entering the throat cavity, and avoid infection by pathogenic bacteria and diseases caused by them.

6. Learn to release stress and avoid negative emotions

Today's society is fast-paced and all industries are under great pressure. If long-term life and work pressure cannot be effectively released, both the body and mind will be damaged. Many people are not good at communication and do not know how to relieve stress on their own, so they are prone to laryngeal cancer or other tumors. In addition, people who have a bad temper and are prone to sulking are also prone to malignant tumors.
