With the other hand, touch the inferior angle of the scapula. When the upper arm hangs naturally, the position of the inferior angle of the scapula is determined. The vertical line through this angle is the scapular line.

Scapular line puncture point: middle of the 7th-8th intercostal space. The needle entry point on the inner side of the scapular line is slightly lower, but should not be close to the lower edge of the ribs. The needle entry point lateral to the scapular line should be in the middle of the intercostal space. To avoid damaging the intercostal nerves and blood vessels.

Vertical line landmarks include: anterior midline, midclavicular line, anterior axillary line, midaxillary line, posterior axillary line, scapular line, posterior midline, as well as sternal line and parasternal line.

1. The anterior midline, also known as the midsternal line, is a vertical line through the center of the sternum.

2. The midclavicular line is a vertical line passing through the midpoint of the line connecting the acromial end and the sternal end of the clavicle.

3. Anterior axillary line: A vertical line running down the anterior chest wall through the anterior axillary fold.

4. Midaxillary line: A vertical line running downward from the top of the armpit to the midpoint between the anterior axillary line and the posterior axillary line.

5. The posterior axillary line is a vertical line running down the posterior chest wall through the posterior axillary fold.

6. Scapular line: A vertical line passing through the inferior angle of the scapula and parallel to the posterior midline when the arms are hanging naturally.

7. The posterior median line is also called the midline of the spine, which is a vertical line passing through the spinous processes of the vertebrae or along the median line.

8. Sternal line: A line drawn along the lateral edge of the widest part of the sternum and parallel to the anterior midline.

9. The parasternal line is the vertical line passing through the midpoint of the line connecting the sternal line and the midclavicular line.
