Why is my urine pink?

Why is my urine pink?

We know that normal urine color is a transparent light yellow. If it is other colors other than light yellow, such as milky white or light pink, first consider whether you drink too little water, and then consider whether you are taking medication or have a certain disease. Especially if the urine is pink, you should pay attention to whether there is bleeding in the urine. This may be a disease in the urinary system of the body and must be taken seriously. So why is urine pink? Is it a sign of some disease?

Normal urine

Under normal circumstances, the urine of a normal person is composed of 95% water and 5% metabolites. Normal urine is light yellow and transparent. There is a substance called urobilirubin in the urine, which is colored. The depth of the color is related to the concentration of bilirubin. If you drink more water, the pigment will be diluted and appear colorless. More than 95% of male bleeding in urine is caused by urinary tract infection, among which glomerular disease, renal cysts and stones, prostatic hyperplasia, urinary tract infection and other diseases are the most common. Hemorrhagic cystitis, urinary stones, renal tuberculosis, renal tumors, renal and urethral injuries, etc. may also cause hematuria. Hematuria is one of the main symptoms of the above diseases.

Reasons why urine is pink

First, check to see if you have recently eaten foods with different colors, such as beets, amaranth, blueberries, etc. If not, then you are suffering from blood in your urine. This type of hematuria, which is visible to the naked eye, is a common symptom. For example, urinary system diseases (infection, trauma, tumors, etc.), various primary, secondary and hereditary nephritis, bladder, urethral stones, vascular diseases, etc. are common causes of hematuria. It could even be a sign of lead or mercury poisoning. In short, the problem is quite serious.

1. Urinary stones. These include stones in the kidney, ureter, bladder, or urethra.

2. Urinary and reproductive system infection. Such as pyelonephritis, renal tuberculosis, cysturethritis, prostatitis, etc.

3. Nephritis. These include acute and chronic nephritis, focal nephritis, benign acute hemorrhagic nephritis, etc.

4. Urogenital system tumors. There are kidney tumors, ureter tumors, bladder tumors, prostate tumors, etc.

5. Other urinary system diseases. Such as kidney ptosis, wandering kidney, congenital polycystic kidney, etc.

6. Urinary system damage. Damage to the kidneys caused by various chemicals or drugs, hematuria caused by sulfonamides, etc.

7. There are also some reasons that can cause temporary hematuria. For example, some people find hematuria after exercise. They have hematuria after morning jogging or physical exercise, but they do not feel any obvious discomfort or other associated symptoms. This is hematuria after exercise, and the cause is kidney damage caused by strenuous exercise. There is no specific treatment for exercise-induced hematuria. You can take some hemostatic drugs and then rest until the hematuria disappears. In the future, when exercising, you should start with a small amount and gradually increase the amount to improve the body's and kidneys' tolerance to exercise.

Is pink urine a serious problem?

In this regard, experts analyzed that we must first determine why the urine is pink and recommend going to the hospital for a routine urine test. If there is a red blood cell in the urine, it is "hematuria" and will appear pink. Hematuria is an abnormal increase in red blood cells in the urine, which can be a serious condition of the urinary system.

If there is blood in the urine, it may be related to strenuous exercise and taking blood-thinning medications. It may also be related to bladder cancer, kidney stones and urinary tract infections. Light red or brownish red urine may indicate hematuria. When the amount of blood in urine exceeds 1 ml per liter, it may appear light red, which is called gross hematuria. It is common in kidney diseases (tuberculosis, stones and inflammation, etc.), and can also be seen in idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura and hemophilia.

Additionally, normal urine color may be affected by certain foods and medications. Therefore, if you find that your urine has an abnormal color, don't be nervous first. Think calmly whether you have taken any special medicines or foods recently. After stopping the above items, observe whether the urine color returns to normal. We recommend that people with abnormal urine color should have a urine test and go to the urology department for a detailed examination depending on the situation.
