What's wrong with a rough tongue

For us humans or other creatures, having a tongue is one of the most important organs of our body. Because we can feel the ups and downs of our lives through our tongue, and it is because we have the tongue that we can taste the few delicious foods in the world. Therefore, we must protect our tongue in life. Let us now understand what causes a rough tongue.

I believe that most people don’t stick out their tongue for no reason, unless you go to the doctor and the doctor asks you to stick out your tongue. However, your tongue can actually tell you a lot about your body.

Following these signs, you can immediately find a mirror to check your own condition!

1. Let’s first take a look at what a healthy tongue is: no tongue coating, the tongue itself is pink, and there are no spots or depressions.

2. If the color of your tongue is bright red, it may indicate that your body is lacking in vitamins. At this time, you might as well eat more vegetables to adjust, but you still need to consult a doctor's advice.

3. If there are tooth marks on the edge of your tongue, it may mean that you have a thyroid disease, which causes your tongue to swell. It is usually accompanied by hair loss, low blood pressure, and fatigue. Please seek medical attention as soon as possible.

4. If there are cracks or deep wrinkles on the sides of your tongue, it may indicate an autoimmune problem. These cracks may also appear as you age (similar to wrinkles). When you go to the dentist, you can ask the doctor if there are any abnormalities.

5. When black or brown appears on the surface of your tongue, it means that your oral hygiene is very problematic, but this condition may also occur in diabetics or people taking antibiotics. Some patients undergoing chemotherapy may also have such signs.

6. If you have a thick white tongue coating, it may be caused by thrush, which mostly occurs in infants or people with weakened immunity. If you are a smoker, this is a phenomenon of leukoplakia. Some people with colon cancer may also have such signs.

7. If there are obvious lesions or cysts on the tongue, it is sometimes caused by pressure and usually heals on its own within 1-2 weeks. However, if there are no signs of improvement, please see a doctor as soon as possible, as this may be a precursor to oral cancer.
