I feel the eardrum vibrating in my ear

The ear is one of the five essential senses of human beings. Hearing is accomplished by the joint activities of the ear, auditory nerve and auditory center. The ear is a peripheral sensory organ for hearing and taste. Some young comrades suffer from tinnitus due to frequent wearing of headphones, and feel that the periosteum in the ear is vibrating. What's more, the elderly also have that phenomenon. They are old and weak, and have many illnesses but not only one reason. Here are some reasons why you may feel your eardrum vibrating.

A harsh sound in the ear is called tinnitus. Tinnitus is only a single clinical manifestation and there are many causes of tinnitus. Various ear diseases may cause tinnitus, such as cerumen embolism, Eustachian tube obstruction, tympanic effusion and otosclerosis. In addition, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, anemia, leukemia, kidney disease, neurosis, ototoxic drugs, histamineemia with allergic reaction, intracranial tumors, etc. can also affect the auditory organs and cause tinnitus. Find out the cause of tinnitus.

Treatment is directed at the cause. Symptomatic treatments for tinnitus include:

① Drug treatment: Commonly used vasodilators to improve inner ear blood circulation, such as low molecular weight dextran, Danshen tablets, etc.; or drugs to improve the energy metabolism of inner ear tissue, such as ATP, coenzyme A, etc.; anticonvulsants, such as carbamazepine, cypermethrin, lidocaine, etc. can inhibit abnormal excitatory activities of the auditory system.

② Masking therapy: Using a tinnitus masker to treat tinnitus is to use external sound stimulation to suppress the spontaneous excitement of the inner ear or auditory nerve. Hearing aids can also be used instead of maskers.

③Psychological treatment, such as biofeedback therapy: it uses different biofeedback signals to train patients to enter a relaxed state and restore the relative balance in the body to achieve the purpose of treating tinnitus. In short, tinnitus generally does not cause much harm to health, but it is annoying and unsettling. There are certain difficulties in current treatment. If you have symptoms of tinnitus, you should actively go to the hospital for corresponding examinations and treatments to avoid delaying the diagnosis and treatment of certain important diseases. If there is no special disease, you don’t have to be nervous, you should keep a happy mood, divert your attention, and tinnitus may be alleviated. You can try taking the Chinese patent medicine Ertinnitus and Erlong Pills.

The ear is composed of the outer ear, middle ear which are sound transmitters, and the inner ear which are sound sensors and balance organs. The outer ear is exposed on the body surface, while the middle ear and inner ear are buried in the petrous part of the temporal bone. The outer ear and middle ear are organs that conduct sound waves, and the inner ear has receptors for sound and position perception, and is the main part of the hearing and position perception organs. Sound waves are transmitted to the inner ear through the external auditory canal, eardrum and auditory ossicles, exciting the inner ear's sound sensory organ (Corti's organ), converting sound energy into nerve impulses, which are then transmitted to the central nervous system through the auditory nerve to produce hearing.

The vibration of the eardrum causes the three auditory ossicles to vibrate at the same frequency. After the vibration is transmitted to the auditory ossicles, the vibration force is greatly enhanced due to the action of the auditory ossicular chain, which plays a role in amplifying the sound. The vibration of the ossicular chain causes the endolymph in the cochlea to vibrate, stimulating the auditory receptors in the inner ear. The nerve impulses generated by the excitement of the auditory receptors are transmitted along the cochlear nerve in the auditory nerve to the auditory center in the cerebral cortex, producing hearing. The auditory nerve is made up of the vestibular nerve and the cochlear nerve in the inner ear.
