Massage method for ingrown tympanic membrane

Massage method for ingrown tympanic membrane

The outpatient doctor can tell at a glance and there is no need for special examination. If necessary, tympanic membrane electron microscopy can be performed. It is an important sign of non-suppurative otitis media. It can be seen in both acute and chronic stages. The medical skills of massage in our country are well-deserved. It plays an important role in the treatment of many diseases and can make the condition improve a lot. Let me introduce to you in detail the massage method for retracted tympanic membrane.

It is mainly caused by non-suppurative otitis media after a cold, especially in people with recurrent colds. Since most people have experienced a cold, most people may have a retracted eardrum. Generally, it only causes mild hearing loss, and most of the time it will not affect normal daily conversations. With treatment, some recovery can be achieved, but it is difficult to fully return to normal.

When the eardrum is retracted, you can massage the eardrum yourself or inflate the Eustachian tube yourself to help the eardrum return to normal. method:

(1) Self-tympanic membrane massage

Place the palms of your hands against your ear holes and press repeatedly to allow air to enter the external auditory canal and then release it, causing the eardrum to move inward and outward. This is the tympanic membrane massage method. Because the patient does it himself, it is called self-tympanic membrane massage.

(2) Self-inflation of the Eustachian tube

Use the thumb and index finger (also called index finger) of one hand to pinch both nostrils, close your lips tightly, and do not let out any air. Then blow air out from your lungs, one breath at a time (the time it takes to take a long breath), and consciously let the air enter the Eustachian tube at the back of the nasopharynx and into the middle ear cavity. When air enters the middle ear cavity, there is an immediate feeling of blockage in the ear on the side where the air enters, and hearing suddenly decreases. After blowing repeatedly several times and then pausing to allow the air to escape from the middle ear cavity, your hearing will return to its original state. Doing this several times a day will help the inverted eardrum return to normal.

Note:

A. When there is acute inflammation in the nasal cavity, especially when there is secretion that has not been cleared out, do not blow the mucus into the ear to avoid blowing the secretion into the middle ear, which will cause mucus inflammation.

B. Do not lift the soft palate when blowing. The soft palate should be relaxed naturally. Otherwise, the soft palate will lift up and block the nasopharynx, and air will not be able to enter the middle ear cavity.
