Can leftover crabs be eaten after being heated up?

Crabs are a common food ingredient in daily life, and they are rich in nutritional value. Eating crabs regularly is good for the human body, but sometimes we cannot finish the crabs we buy. It is best not to eat overnight crabs, because overnight crabs will cause bacteria to multiply, and then induce gastrointestinal diseases, causing unnecessary harm to the human body. It is recommended to eat fresh crabs.

It is not advisable to eat cooked crabs that have been stored for too long: stored cooked crabs are very easy to be invaded and contaminated by bacteria. Therefore, crabs should be cooked and eaten immediately and not stored. If you cannot finish it, the leftovers must be stored in a clean, cool and ventilated place, and must be put back into the pot and cooked and steamed thoroughly before eating.

Things to note when eating crabs:

1. It is not advisable to eat raw crabs: Crabs generally feed on animal carcasses or humus, so the crab's body surface, gills and gastrointestinal tract are covered with various bacteria and sludge. Crabs often carry cysts of lung fluke and Vibrio parahaemolyticus. If not sterilized at high temperature, the lung fluke can enter the human body and cause lung damage. If Vibrio parahaemolyticus invades the human body in large quantities, infectious poisoning will occur, manifesting as symptoms such as intestinal inflammation, edema and congestion. Therefore, crabs must be steamed and cooked thoroughly, and generally they need to be heated for more than 30 minutes after boiling to achieve the disinfection effect.

2. Do not eat cooked crabs that have been stored for too long: stored cooked crabs are very easy to be invaded and contaminated by bacteria. Therefore, crabs should be cooked and eaten immediately and not stored. If you cannot finish it, the leftovers must be stored in a clean, cool and ventilated place, and must be put back into the pot and cooked and steamed thoroughly before eating.

3. Don’t chew randomly: You should pay attention to the four aspects when eating crabs. First, clear the crab stomach. The crab stomach is commonly known as the crab urine bag. It is a triangular bone bag in the center of the front edge of the back shell, which contains dirty sand. The second is to remove the crab intestines, which is a black line from the crab stomach to the crab navel. The third is to remove the crab heart, which is commonly known as the hexagonal plate. The fourth is to remove the crab gills, which are two rows of soft things like eyebrows growing on the crab's abdomen, commonly known as crab eyebrows. These parts are dirty and have no edible value. Do not chew them randomly to avoid food poisoning.

4. Don’t eat too much, even if you are greedy, you have to resist: because crab meat is cold in nature, it is not suitable to eat too much. People with weak spleen and stomach should pay special attention to avoid abdominal pain and diarrhea. For abdominal pain and diarrhea caused by eating crabs, you can use 15 grams of warm Chinese medicine Perilla frutescens, 5 to 6 slices of ginger, and boil them in water.

5. Do not eat with tea: Do not drink tea while eating crabs or within 1 hour after eating crabs. Because boiling water will dilute stomach acid, and tea will cause certain components of the crab to coagulate, both are not conducive to digestion and absorption, and may also cause abdominal pain and diarrhea.

6. It is not suitable to eat crabs with persimmons: When crabs are fat, persimmons are ripe. So you should be careful not to eat crabs and persimmons together. Because the tannic acid and other ingredients in persimmons will coagulate the crab meat protein, the coagulated substance will ferment and rot if it stays in the intestines for a long time, causing vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and other reactions.
