How long does it take for formaldehyde in a new house to disappear

We all know that before moving into a new house, the house needs to be painted throughout. The paint used to paint houses contains a lot of formaldehyde. As we all know, formaldehyde is a toxic gas substance. It is extremely harmful to the human body. Especially for families with babies, formaldehyde is a gas that should be avoided. So how long will it take for the formaldehyde in a new house to disappear? Let’s take a look.

Formaldehyde is the most serious harmful gas causing indoor decoration pollution. It comes from the artificial boards used in indoor decoration and the decorative materials such as furniture, wall cloths, wallpaper, coatings, paints, etc., and is released for as long as 5-10 years. At present, according to the inspection of indoor environment testing departments, newly renovated homes all have formaldehyde pollution to varying degrees. Here are the following formaldehyde removal methods:

1. Ordinary earth moves:

Soak 300 grams of black tea in two basins of water, put it in the room, and open the windows for ventilation. Within 48 hours, the indoor formaldehyde content will drop by more than 90%, and the irritating smell will be slightly eliminated.

2. Ventilation method to remove formaldehyde:

Through the circulation of indoor air, the content of some free harmful substances in the indoor air can be reduced, thereby reducing the harm of such substances to the human body, but it is only a temporary solution and not a fundamental solution. In winter, people often close doors and windows, and the air cannot circulate between indoor and outdoor spaces. Not only will the formaldehyde content in the indoor air increase, but radon gas will also continue to accumulate and even reach a very high concentration.

3. Activated carbon adsorption method:

Activated carbon is a common formaldehyde removal method in general households. Its principle is mainly based on the adsorption principle of activated carbon to adsorb harmful gases in the room onto the activated carbon. However, it should be noted that the degree of pollution in each room is different. When the activated carbon adsorption is saturated, it is necessary to replace it with a new activated carbon product in time. If it is not replaced in time, the saturated activated carbon will release the harmful gases adsorbed before again, which is likely to cause serious secondary pollution.

4. Methods for removing formaldehyde odor from furniture:

You can go to the market to pick out some high-tech odor-removing cleaners, which can remove harmful gases emitted by newly renovated houses, new furniture, etc. According to relevant sources, these odor-removing cleaners are generally imported products, which use ammonia compounds to react chemically with harmful substances, thereby achieving the effect of removing odors and cleaning. In a newly renovated room, you can pour this deodorizing cleaner into a plate, place the plate in each room, and then combine it with the scrubbing deodorizing method. After a few days, you can effectively remove the unpleasant odor;

You can put two basins of salt water in the room and the paint smell will be eliminated quickly. If the paint smell comes from wooden furniture, you can wipe it with tea water several times, and the paint smell will be eliminated faster;

To quickly remove residual paint smell, you can soak cotton balls with citric acid and hang them indoors and inside wooden furniture.
