In response to this, the newly revised Law on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Waste has supplemented the provisions on extended producer responsibility and stipulated that the state shall implement a mandatory recycling system for some products and packaging materials.

The newly revised Law on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Waste clearly stipulates: "The administrative department of standardization under the State Council shall organize the formulation of relevant standards based on the national economic and technical conditions, the status of environmental pollution prevention and control by solid waste and the technical requirements of products to prevent environmental pollution caused by excessive packaging."

Throwing garbage into rivers, lakes and ponds is perhaps an experience that many people have had. Starting from April 2005, this behavior, which was previously only subject to moral constraints, will be subject to legal punishment.

The revised Law on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Waste stipulates that any unit or individual is prohibited from dumping or piling solid waste into rivers, lakes, canals, channels, reservoirs and beaches and river bank slopes below the highest water level line, as well as other places where dumping or piling of wastes is prohibited by laws and regulations.
