What is the reason for the cramp pain in the left foot

Leg cramps are quite common in daily life and are also a very troublesome thing. When cramps occur, the muscles become stiff and the pain is unbearable. In life, female friends suffer from cramps more often than male friends. Adolescents who are in their growth period are more likely to suffer from cramps. The causes of cramps are generally calcium deficiency or failure to keep warm. In daily life, you should supplement calcium more, strengthen your body, exercise more, and pay more attention to keeping warm.

A cramp is a sudden, involuntary, rigid contraction of a muscle, which causes muscle stiffness and pain. Leg cramps are the most common experience for most people.

The main causes of leg cramps are:

1. Poor local circulation, peripheral vascular disease or varicose veins in the feet.

2. The ambient temperature changes suddenly.

3. Excessive emotional tension.

4. Insufficient minerals (such as magnesium and calcium) in the diet.

5. The incidence of cramps will also increase in people with certain chronic diseases and pregnant women.

6. Motor neurone disease, spinal radiculopathy or peripheral neuropathy.

7. Certain blood pressure and lipid-lowering drugs may also cause leg cramps.

8. Unknown reasons.

How to reduce the chances of leg cramps:

1. Pay attention to calcium supplementation: During adolescence, calcium is relatively scarce, which is more likely to cause cramps.

2. If you are prone to cramps when sleeping at night, do stretching exercises on the cramp-prone areas before going to bed.

3. Keep your calves warm when sleeping. You can put on more clothes to keep your hands and feet warm.

4. Excessive drooping of the foot (drooping toward the sole of the foot) may induce calf cramps. Avoid letting your foot hang down too much while you sleep. 5. There are reports in the literature that vitamin E can reduce the number of attacks, but there is no definitive conclusion yet.

When your calf is cramping, you can straighten and rub the cramped calf muscles, and pull the cramping sole of the foot upwards. And pay attention to keeping your calf muscles warm after a cramp. Folk remedies recommend pressing the Ren Zhong acupoint with your fingers, which you can also try. Although leg cramps are extremely painful and can wake you up in the middle of the night, the only thing to be thankful for is that your life is not in danger.
