Effects of edible alkali

1. Put the hairtail into hot alkaline water at about 80℃ for 10 seconds, immediately put it into cold water, and then brush it with a brush or stroke it with your hands to quickly remove its powdery scales.

2. When using cornmeal or corn to make porridge, add some alkali in moderation. Corn contains a bound form of niacin that is not easily absorbed by the human body. Long-term consumption of corn products will lead to niacin deficiency and susceptibility to pellagra

. Alkali can convert bound niacin into free niacin, which is beneficial for human absorption.

Adding appropriate amounts of salt and edible alkali when kneading the dough can enhance the strength of the dough, improve the physical properties of the gluten, make the texture denser, and enhance its elasticity and strength. Make the dough less likely to break when stretched or expanded. When the dough is tightly organized, the finished product will appear white in color.

5. White towels will turn yellow and hard after being used for a long time, which will be very uncomfortable to use. You can put the towel in a pot or basin, add some water, sprinkle in a handful of alkaline noodles, and boil it for a few minutes. When the water is no longer hot, rub the towel a few times and then rinse it with hot water. In this way, the yellow stains on the towel can be basically eliminated and it will also be much softer.

6. Old mildew stains on fabrics can be removed by rubbing with light alkaline water.

7. Smoke stains on fabrics can be removed by first brushing them with 50℃ glycerin, and then rubbing them with alkaline water.

8. For plaster stains on fabrics, put alkaline powder on the stain, add a little warm water, and rub it a few times to remove it.
