What is the relationship between the heart and small intestine?

Many people do not understand the relationship between human internal organs, but everyone should know the approximate locations of the related organs. The human heart is located on the left side of the chest, and the small intestine is located in the lower abdomen. Therefore, the human small intestine is below the heart. I believe many people do not know that the human small intestine and heart do not exist in isolation, but are closely related. The following introduces the relationship between the heart and small intestine.

The relationship between the heart and the small intestine:

1. Structurally:

The Shaoyin Heart Meridian of Hand belongs to the heart network and small intestine.

The Small Intestine Meridian of Hand-Taiyang belongs to the Small Intestine and connects to the Heart.

2. Physiological relationship:

Heart fire warms the small intestine, and heart blood nourishes the small intestine

The small intestine absorbs the essence of food and water, and transfers it through the spleen to nourish the heart's qi and blood.

The Hand Shaoyin Heart Meridian belongs to the heart and connects to the small intestine, while the Hand Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian belongs to the small intestine and connects to the heart. The heart and small intestine are connected to each other through the meridians, forming an exterior-interior relationship.

The heart and small intestine serve each other physiologically. The heart governs blood vessels. The warmth of the heart yang and the moisture of the heart blood help the small intestine's digestion function, allowing food and water to be fully differentiated into nutrients and waste that can be used by the body. The small intestine is responsible for digestion, separating the clear from the turbid, absorbing the essence of food and water and fluid, of which the thick part is transferred to the heart through the spleen qi to be transformed into blood to nourish the heart meridian, as mentioned in "Su Wen?" The Treatise on Meridians states that "turbid qi returns to the heart, and the essence flows into the meridians."

The heart and small intestine influence each other pathologically. The excess fire in the heart meridian can transfer the heat to the small intestine, causing oliguria, red, astringent and painful urine, hematuria, etc., symptoms of excess heat in the small intestine. On the contrary, if there is heat in the small intestine, it can also go up through the meridians to the heart, causing symptoms such as irritability and red and erosive tongue. In addition, the small intestine is cold and weak, and its digestion function is impaired, so the essence of water and grain cannot be produced, which may lead to symptoms of insufficient blood in the heart over time.

Among the five internal organs, the heart is located above the diaphragm in the chest, between the two lungs, and slightly to the left. It is shaped like a flame and is protected by the pericardium, hence the pictographic Chinese character "心". The "small intestine" is one of the six internal organs. It is called "intestine" because it twists and turns and coils within the abdominal cavity. It is part of the digestive system, connected to the stomach above and the large intestine below. The small intestine is responsible for absorbing liquid substances in food and transporting them to the entire body through the blood flow driven by the heart, nourishing every corner of the body.
