Why vinegar needles are used to treat bone spurs

Why vinegar needles are used to treat bone spurs

Bone spurs, also known as bone hyperplasia, are a degenerative disease that occurs mainly with age. In addition to age, night, physical condition, posture, etc. can also cause bone spurs. Once bone spurs appear, they are very difficult to treat, and many patients have tried various methods but have not been very effective. However, I heard that soaking needles in vinegar can have a good effect on bone spurs. So, why do we use vinegar to treat bone spurs? Let’s take a look at the reasons below.

There is no logic that soaking needles in vinegar can cure bone spurs.

Bone Spur Treatment

1. Western medicine treatment

At present, Western medicine has no effective treatment for this disease, and symptomatic treatment is often used. For example, some antipyretic and analgesic drugs can be taken when there is pain; B vitamins can be used for numbness; those with swollen joints and effusion can be given local extraction of the effusion or local blockade and other therapies. However, these treatments are not ideal and the disease is prone to relapse.

Chondroprotective agents such as glucosamine sulfate can promote the synthesis of cartilage, inhibit the decomposition of articular cartilage, and also have anti-inflammatory effects. Sulfate itself is also one of the essential components for the synthesis of cartilage matrix. This type of drug can relieve pain symptoms, improve joint function, and long-term use (more than 2 years) can also delay the destruction of joint structure. Glucosamine sulfate takes a long time to take effect, but it has good safety and is suitable for long-term use as a basic treatment.

2. Physical therapy

Direct current drug ion introduction method fully exerts the effect of drugs, but because the introduced drugs are liquid, they are easily volatile and the efficacy is not long-lasting, which limits the therapeutic effect of this method. The therapeutic effects of ultraviolet therapy are mainly manifested in the following aspects: ① bactericidal effect; ② anti-inflammatory effect; ③ analgesic effect; ④ promoting wound healing; ⑤ desensitization effect; ⑥ promoting the formation of vitamin D3; ⑦ regulating the body's immune function, etc. Other methods such as infrared, microwave, laser, wax therapy, etc. also have certain effects.

3. Surgery

Surgery is not the treatment of choice. When conservative treatment is ineffective and the condition is severe and seriously affects the patient's life, surgical treatment may be considered.

4. Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment

The arthritis caused by this disease belongs to the category of "bi syndrome" in traditional Chinese medicine, mostly due to wind, cold and dampness. Different prescriptions and medicines can be selected according to the different emphasis of wind, cold and dampness. If the wind evil prevails, it is called Xingbi, which can be treated by dispelling wind, unblocking meridians, dispersing cold and removing dampness. The prescription that can be selected is Xuanbi Dajing Decoction. If the cold evil prevails, it will cause pain and arthralgia, which can be treated by warming the meridians and dispersing cold, removing wind and dampness. The prescription can be Wutou Decoction. If dampness prevails, it will cause arthralgia, which can be treated by removing dampness, unblocking meridians, expelling wind and dispersing cold. The prescription can be Coix Seed Decoction with modifications.

Tuina massage is effective in treating arthritis caused by degenerative joint diseases. The techniques can be summarized as techniques for relieving soft tissue tension and spasm, pain relief techniques, techniques for loosening adhesions, techniques for increasing patellar mobility, techniques for eliminating knee joint swelling, etc., which can significantly relieve pain and joint dysfunction caused by degenerative joint diseases.

Acupuncture therapy also has certain effects. Acupuncture treatment basically focuses on the local acupoints of the disease, combined with meridian and syndrome differentiation acupoint selection. Main acupoints: Ashi point, local meridian points; Accessory points: for wandering arthralgia, add Geshu and Xuehai; for painful arthralgia, add Shenshu and Guanyuan; for localized arthralgia, add Yinlingquan and Zusanli.
