How to deal with yellow well water

In many places, people still drink well water in their daily lives. Drinking more well water can clear away heat and detoxify, and help relieve red and hot urine and difficulty in urination. However, you can't drink well water all year round, as this can easily cause kidney stones, especially if you drink well water in rural areas. Among these well waters, what should we do if some of them are yellow?

The well water turns yellow because there is too much rust. The rust means there are too many Fe ions in the water. Adding some alum to neutralize it can make it clearer, but don't add too much.

1. Direct iron and manganese removal filtration system:

Iron and manganese in well water (groundwater) generally exist in a divalent state. The main water purification principle of this equipment is: after the well water is aerated, the iron (manganese) in the water begins to oxidize. When the water flows through the manganese sand filter layer, due to the chemical action of the filter material and the biochemical action of iron (manganese) bacteria on the surface of the filter material (multispore embryo, iron-containing Bacillus carinii, single-cell iron bacteria and rust-colored hairy fungi, etc.), biochemical reactions, contact oxidation reactions and physical interception and adsorption begin to occur in the filter material layer. The combined action of these processes can greatly accelerate the oxidation, solidification and removal of iron (manganese) in the water, thereby achieving the desired effect.

2. Quartz sand filtration system:

Quartz sand filtration is a preliminary treatment carried out before water refining in order to achieve good results and improve water quality during water refining. Because tap water contains a certain amount of impurities, such as mud, rust, red worms, organic matter, microorganisms, mechanical impurities, etc. The presence of these impurities seriously affects the water quality and treatment effect of refined water. Therefore, some impurities must be reduced or removed before fine treatment, which requires pretreatment. After quartz sand pretreatment, water turbidity, color, colloids, organic matter, iron, manganese, microorganisms, volatile substances, dissolved gases and other impurities can be removed or reduced to a certain extent.

3. Activated carbon filter system:

In general, activated carbon can remove more than 98% of the residual chlorine in tap water by adsorption. In addition, there are a large number of functional groups such as hydroxyl and carboxyl groups on the surface of activated carbon, which can chemically adsorb organic substances of various properties and exert electrostatic attraction. Therefore, activated carbon can also remove organic matter such as humic acid, fulvic acid, and lignosulfonic acid in water that are harmful to anion exchangers, thereby improving the desalted water treatment capacity. It can usually remove 63%-86% of colloidal substances, about 50% of iron, and 47%-60% of organic matter.
