Interspinous ligament inflammation?

Interspinous ligament inflammation?

The human body is connected by ligaments, which generally include the interspinous ligament, supraspinous ligament and yellow ligament. The part that is most easily injured when we exercise is generally the interspinous ligament. The treatment effect of interspinous ligamentitis is often not ideal, mainly because the blood supply to the interspinous ligament is not good, and it is difficult for general drugs to reach it directly. If you suffer from interspinous ligamentitis, you must pay attention to maintenance, which is conducive to the recovery of the disease.

How does supraspinal ligamentitis occur?

There are two ligaments between the upper and lower spinous processes, namely the supraspinous ligament and the interspinous ligament. Maybe friends who have low back pain go to the hospital for treatment, and the doctor will say that you have supraspinous ligament inflammation. This is actually what they are talking about. When our body is upright, the upper and lower spinous processes are relatively close, and all the supraspinal and interspinal ligaments are in a relaxed state. When we sit down or bend over to lift heavy objects, these two ligaments will be stretched and tightened due to the flexion of the spine and the opening of the upper and lower spinous processes. Our supraspinal and interspinal ligaments are composed of many elastic fibers and have a certain degree of elasticity. After a certain degree and duration of traction, they can return to their original state after relaxation. However, if the force is too great or the time is too long, the ligament will be injured, and inflammation will occur at the junction of the ligament and the bony part of the spinous process, resulting in chronic low back pain.

1. Normal condition of supraspinal and interspinous ligament inflammation.

2. Stretching state of supraspinal and interspinous ligament inflammation (when we sit down and bend our waist, or bend over, the relative position of the spinous process and supraspinal and interspinous ligaments changes)

3. Long-term traction causes inflammation at the attachment site of the supraspinal ligament and bone tissue, causing pain, and thus supraspinal ligamentitis occurs.

What should I do if I have supraspinal ligamentitis?

Generally speaking, supraspinal ligament inflammation is reversible as long as we actively exercise our back muscles and avoid bowing our heads for long periods of time, sitting for long periods of time, and bending over to lift heavy objects. Sleep on a hard bed, don't use a pillow that is too high, improve your living and working habits, and strengthen exercise, and supraspinous ligament inflammation will gradually ease.

However, if we do not pay enough attention and continue to have bad living and working habits, the fiber bundles of the supraspinous and interspinal ligaments will suffer fatigue rupture and scar hyperplasia, causing the supraspinous and interspinal ligaments to lose elasticity and thicken, thus losing their function as a tension band on the posterior spine on the spinous process. In this way, one of the cables of the tower crane used to fix the spine would be scrapped, greatly increasing the risk of spinal instability. At the same time, due to the damage of one structure, the intervertebral disc, small joints and other structures will soon be damaged and collapse, leading to serious consequences.
