Knee enlargement after patellar surgery

Knee enlargement after patellar surgery

Our human body has many bones, which form the framework of our body, so bones play an indispensable role in our body. However, in some life, many people will suffer a certain degree of bone fractures due to some improper habits or other reasons. If some of these fractures are not handled properly, they can cause us to have limping or crippling behavior for the rest of our lives. Therefore, in our lives we must pay attention to the occurrence of diseases or conditions such as fractures. So let’s take a look at the reasons why the knee becomes larger after patellar surgery!

01

When people lack calcium, their bones will become porous, which is when they fall or bump into something. Bones may be dislocated or fractured. There is also a chance that the bones may shatter. Then there will be severe pain in the legs. No activity. Pale face and cyanotic lips. Deformity of the leg shape.

02

Next is the fracture site. It will swell up, the body temperature will rise a little, the blood pressure may drop, and fat embolism may also occur. This is because the hematoma at the fracture site will increase the pressure, and there are fat particles in the bone marrow cavity. The high pressure will squeeze the fat particles in the bone marrow into the ruptured veins, thus causing fat embolism.

03

Patellar fractures are prone to osteoarthritis after fracture healing, which is recurring pain in the joint, especially after being exposed to cold. Therefore, functional exercises should be performed as soon as possible after the operation. Generally, you can get up and move around after resting for half a month, and you can move your knee joint and perform appropriate functional exercises. Early exercises have a good effect on the future functional recovery of the knee joint.

Note:

Patients with patellar fractures should perform muscle contraction and relaxation exercises on the injured leg 1-2 weeks after the injury. 3-6 weeks after injury, the joints above and below the fracture site should be mobilized, and 6-8 weeks after injury, the fracture site should have reached the healing standard. Therefore, it is necessary to perform functional exercises on the injured side. Also pay attention to the room temperature and keep your body warm to improve the microcirculation of body fluids. You should also raise the injured leg, which will help blood return to the heart and reduce edema.
