Steps to make porcelain teeth

Steps to make porcelain teeth

When making porcelain teeth, it is necessary to choose the appropriate steps according to the patient's oral condition, because teeth need to be replaced. If a person has no teeth, there will be big problems with eating, so it is necessary to ensure oral health at ordinary times and to have perfect teeth.

Clinical treatment

1. Develop a treatment plan and complete pre-restorative preparations

The doctor will formulate a detailed restorative treatment plan and select the appropriate type of restoration based on the cause of the tooth defect, the size of the defect, the location of the defective tooth, the occlusion, the remaining teeth in the mouth, the eating habits and the patient's requirements. Various preparations before restoration are performed, including: root canal treatment of pulp and apical disease, periodontal treatment, orthodontic treatment before restoration, etc.

2. Tooth preparation

The doctor prepares the teeth based on the selected restoration type, the remaining teeth in the mouth, the location of the defective teeth and the occlusion, etc., to provide restorative space for the production of the restoration.

3. Preparation of impressions and models

After the tooth preparation is completed, the doctor selects appropriate impression materials to make an impression and casts a plaster model. For teeth with subgingival margins, it is necessary to use gingival retraction cords or other methods to retract the gums so that the impression material can enter in between to form a clear and accurate edge shape and ensure the shape and fit of the restoration edge.

4. Color comparison of restorations

(1) The doctor perceives and determines the color information of the patient's remaining teeth;

(2) Record the color characteristics of the affected teeth;

(3) Accurately convey tooth color information to porcelain technicians through technician processing orders or computer network image transmission.

5. Technical production of restorations

(1) Fabrication of metal-based crowns

The main steps include: 1) Making a working model: including nearly ten processes such as trimming the working model and inserting the model pins; 2) Making a wax model: including wax modeling, cutting back, fine trimming, edge sealing, wax model making of the clamping handle, inserting the casting channel and base; 3) Wax model embedding, casting, opening the circle, sandblasting, and trying on the casting on the working model; 4) Polishing; 5) Treatment of the base crown porcelain bonding surface: fine polishing, sandblasting, cleaning, oxidation. There are nearly 30 processes in total.

(2) Ceramic layer production

The porcelain layer generally includes three layers: opaque porcelain, dentin porcelain, and enamel porcelain, which are formed by multiple stacking and sintering of porcelain powder.

(3) Metal porcelain crowns are tried on models, dyed and glazed.

6. Clinical trial fitting and bonding of restorations

The metal porcelain crown is placed in the patient's mouth, and the contact relationship between the crown and the adjacent teeth, the edge density with the tooth body are checked, the bite is adjusted, and sometimes the shape and color of the entire crown need to be modified and adjusted. After the above trial wearing steps are completed, polishing and glazing are performed, and then bonding is performed clinically.
