The difference between wasps and bees

Everyone knows about bees, especially in summer. The beautiful bees love to collect nectar very much. We often see them among the flowers. We are not unfamiliar with bees at all. Wasps are a kind of insect with a pair of perfect wings and usually a slender, smooth body. The wasp's abdominal stinger penetrates the skin and injects venom. Poisoning causes local tissue necrosis. So everyone must be careful to stay away from wasps or bees to avoid being stung.

Wasp:

Wasps are also called hornets. Female wasps have a long and thick stinger at the end of their tail that is connected to a venom gland. After stinging a person, the venom is injected into the skin, but the stinger does not remain in the skin. The majestic peaks do not sting.

toxicity:

The main components of wasp venom are histamine, serotonin, bradykinin, hyaluronidase, etc. The venom is alkaline and can be easily neutralized by acidic solutions. The venom can cause hemolysis, bleeding and neurotoxic effects, and can damage the myocardium, renal tubules and glomeruli, especially the proximal renal tubules, and can also cause allergic reactions.

Symptoms of poisoning:

After being stung by a wasp, the skin immediately becomes red, swollen, and painful, and may even develop petechiae and skin necrosis. When the eyes are stung, there is severe pain, tearing, redness, swelling, and corneal ulcers may occur. Systemic symptoms include dizziness, headache, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, irritability, increased blood pressure, etc., which generally disappear within a few hours to a few days. In severe cases, there may be drowsiness, generalized edema, oliguria, coma, hemolysis, myocarditis, hepatitis, acute renal failure and shock. Some people who are allergic to bee venom may experience symptoms such as urticaria and anaphylactic shock.

Emergency treatment:

Immediately wash the stung area with a weak acidic liquid such as vinegar, tie a tourniquet near the heart of the wound, and loosen it every 15 minutes. The ligation time should not exceed 2 hours. Go to the hospital as soon as possible.
