The neck above the collarbone hurts a little

Neck pain is often difficult to identify because the organ abnormalities that are obviously related to it are not easy to identify. If the pain in the neck above the clavicle occurs occasionally, don't be nervous. However, if it persists for a long time and is accompanied by other symptoms, you should take it seriously. We can first understand the disease with this characteristic so that we can make a better judgment. So, what are the reasons for neck pain above the clavicle?

There are many reasons for neck pain, so the principles of various neck pains are also different. The common reasons are as follows:

Cervical Spondylosis

Due to long periods of working with the head down, using a computer, sleeping with a high pillow, driving for too long, etc., the cervical spine undergoes degenerative changes. When the cervical spine degenerates to a certain extent, it will cause cervical bone hyperplasia and cervical disc herniation. Bone hyperplasia and herniated disc compress the cervical nerves, muscles, ligaments, etc. and cause neck pain.

Neck muscle strain

Neck muscle strain, also known as cervical fibromyositis, is caused by repeated acute and chronic injuries to the soft tissue of the neck, resulting in traumatic aseptic inflammation and pain in the neck muscles, which stimulates the muscles to produce a persistent state of contraction, muscle tension, and long-term muscle spasm, causing local soft tissue vascular spasm, insufficient blood supply to the muscles and fascia, nutritional disorders, and aggravated aseptic inflammation of the tissues, thus forming a vicious circle and exacerbating the pain.

Neck trauma

There are many causes of cervical spine trauma, such as car accidents, falls, collisions, etc., which damage the neck muscles and bones and cause neck pain.

stiff neck

This is caused by dislocation of the facet joints of the cervical vertebra. When the neck is sprained, or the sleeping posture is incorrect, or the neck is suddenly invaded by wind, cold and dampness, the cervical vertebrae joints may become dislocated and cause neck pain. This pain usually comes on suddenly and gets worse when the neck is turned.

Precautions

1. Do not sleep on your stomach, and the pillow should not be too high, too hard or too flat.

2. Avoid and reduce acute injuries, such as avoiding lifting heavy objects and not applying emergency brakes.

3. Prevent wind, cold and humidity. Avoid taking a bath or being blown by wind and cold at midnight or early morning. Wind and cold will cause local blood vessels to constrict and blood flow to decrease, which will hinder tissue metabolism and waste removal. Humidity will hinder skin evaporation.

4. Actively treat local infections and other diseases.

5. Correct bad posture and reduce strain. Do neck exercises every 1-2 hours when you lower or raise your head to relieve muscle tension. To prevent the occurrence of cervical spondylosis, the most important thing is to improve your sitting posture. When you are working hard, you can also do shoulder and neck exercises intermittently.

6. Adjust your living and working habits. After every hour of working, stand up and walk around for 5 minutes, or massage yourself to relax, to avoid strain on the neck muscles caused by tension due to long-term fixed posture.
