The right side of my face is a little swollen and painless

Facial swelling can occur unilaterally or symmetrically, and there may be no other symptoms besides the swelling. The right side of the face is slightly swollen and painless, which may be caused by illness, usually related to kidney disease. If there are no other obvious physical symptoms, you can first understand the cause of the swelling in your face and see if there are any corresponding areas. Especially if it lasts too long, you must go to the hospital for treatment in time.

Causes of swollen face

The main reason is the lack of high-quality protein, because human cells are composed of 70% water, 28% protein, 2% fat, and 1% sugar. When your protein is lacking, your cells will have a lot of water, which will cause edema. So you must supplement high-quality protein, but you can go to the hospital for a check-up before that.

Key points to consider: kidney disease, hypertension, heart disease, endocrine, electrolyte disorders, etc. If nothing is found, you can go to the allergy department (don’t be afraid of the name, just think of it as the allergy department). In old age, not only does your appearance appear old, but the functions of your internal organs are also declining. The main reasons are the decrease in cardiac blood output, the decrease in renal blood flow, the relaxation of subcutaneous tissue, the decrease in water evaporation from the skin, the reduction in cell volume, and the flow of fluid in the cells to the interstitial space outside the cells, resulting in edema.

Because the lower part of the human body is affected by the earth's gravity, edema is more obvious. If you stand for too long, edema will become more obvious. Diseases of internal organs can also cause edema, which is disease-induced edema. At this point, edema is just a symptom of the disease. Although many diseases can cause edema, the patterns of edema occur differently in different diseases. For example, when heart disease causes chronic right heart failure, edema starts from the ankles of the lower limbs and gradually spreads to the whole body; in cirrhosis of the liver, edema occurs first in the lower limbs, then ascites appears, and finally edema occurs throughout the body. Patients with kidney disease may also experience lower limb edema. However, it usually starts with swelling of the eyelids or face and then spreads to the whole body. When patients wake up in the morning, they often find that their face is swollen and their upper eyelids are swollen like "silkworms". Elderly people who suffer from long-term malnutrition and anemia may also experience edema in the lower limbs and throughout the body due to the formation of hypoproteinemia.

The elderly often suffer from prostate hypertrophy, and some suffer from bladder tumors. Urinary retention can also cause renal insufficiency and eventually lead to lower limb edema. If edema occurs, you should go to the hospital to find out the cause and receive timely treatment. Usually the dishes should be light, and eat more high-protein dishes, such as lean meat, chicken, shrimp, crab, turtle, etc.

How to prevent edema:

1. Eat less heavy-tasting food

Diet and edema are closely related. What you eat today will immediately show up in your body tomorrow. Therefore, you should eat food with less salt and light taste, and eat face-slimming fruits after meals.

2. Eat more water-discharging foods

Red beans, coix seeds, cucumbers, watermelons, etc. are all good draining foods. Although they may not take effect immediately, you will see results as long as you persist.

3. Take a bath frequently

Soaking your whole body in warm water can improve your body's metabolism and promote blood circulation, which can remove excess water and waste from your body.

4. Keep exercising

Girls who insist on exercising will have much better complexion, body shape and health condition than ordinary people, and their faces are less likely to be swollen. Aerobic exercise and stretching gymnastics are most effective during the midterm.

5. Massage to reduce swelling

Method: Use your fingertips to press from the corners of your mouth upwards to your cheekbones. Then make a fist and use your knuckles to press along the cheekbone towards the ear. Repeat three times to quickly eliminate eye swelling.
