What to do if bitten by centipede

After centipedes bite human skin, most of the time within a few hours, some striped red spots will appear on the skin, accompanied by blisters. The transparent blisters will eventually turn into turbid pus or blood, and there will be obvious redness and swelling around them. The symptoms are naturally itchy and painful, but for patients with mild poisoning, in addition to taking medication, the condition may be cured within a week.

What to do if you are bitten by a centipede

Within a few hours after the centipede bite, the skin will develop linear erythema and blisters. The blisters are initially translucent, and later turn into turbid pus or blood with a distinct red halo around them. The blister walls are often scratched or abraded to form erosions. If there is a secondary infection, it is very similar to gangrenous herpes zoster, with itching and pain. The venom of poisonous insects has been measured to have a pH of 6.3-7, which is weakly acidic or neutral. The pathogenic factor is not the stimulation of strong acid but the toxin.

No cases with severe systemic poisoning symptoms have been found in the cases reported domestically. If there is no secondary infection, it will usually heal in 3 to 5 days, so it is not a big problem.

What tests should be done for bite wounds?

Serum sialic acid measurement

Serum sialic acid determination is to measure the sialic acid content in serum. Serum sialic acid is an important component of cell membrane glycoproteins and is related to many biological functions of organisms. It is also closely related to cell malignancy, cancer metastasis, infiltration, loss of contact inhibition, reduced cell adhesion and tumor antigenicity. Determination of serum sialic acid concentration can be used as an auxiliary indicator for cancer diagnosis and an indicator for observing therapeutic efficacy.

Fasting examination: No

Antibody release test

The antibody release test is mainly used to detect the cause of jaundice in newborns of "O" type mothers, "A" or "B" type, to determine whether the baby suffers from ABO blood type system immune hemolytic disease.
