How to kill Paragonimiasis

How to kill Paragonimiasis

Lung fluke is a foreign species that exists in the human body. It can continuously shuttle through the human body and cause varying degrees of damage to the body. When pus appears at the wound site of the human body, lung flukes will enter the body through the wound. After parasitism, lung flukes are very difficult to kill. If you want to completely kill it, you must first understand some related things about it. The following introduces the methods of killing lung fluke.

Clinical manifestations of paragonimiasis

1. Lung type

The lungs are the most common site for Paragonimus westermani to parasitize, and the most common symptoms are cough, bloody sputum, and chest pain. Typical sputum is sticky and jam-like. If there is necrotic lung tissue, the sputum will appear as rotten peach-like bloody sputum.

2. Abdominal type

Abdominal pain is more common in the right lower abdomen, with varying degrees of severity. There may also be diarrhea, hepatomegaly, bloody stools or sesame-like stools, in which adult worms or eggs may be found. There is an obvious feeling of tenesmus, abdominal tenderness during physical examination, and occasionally enlarged liver, spleen, lymph nodes, and abdominal nodules, masses, or ascites.

3. Brain type

It is often caused by Paragonimus westermani and is more common in children and young adults. Its incidence can be as high as 2% to 5% in endemic areas. Its manifestations include: symptoms of increased intracranial pressure, such as headache, vomiting, dull consciousness, optic disc edema, etc., which are more common in early patients.

4. Nodular type

The most common cause is Paragonimus sichuanensis, with an incidence rate of 50% to 80%. It can occur in the abdomen, chest, back, groin, thighs, scrotum, head and neck, eye sockets and other parts of the body, and can be the size of a soybean to a duck egg.

Drugs for the treatment of paragonimiasis

(1) Dichlorophene Sulfate (Bedlin): It is the drug of choice. It has low toxicity and is easily absorbed orally. The short-term cure rate is 84% to 100%, and the long-term efficacy is 80% to 90%. Dosage: Adults: 1 g, orally 3 times a day or every other day. 10 to 20 treatment days constitute a course of treatment. For brain type, the treatment can be repeated 2-3 times. Side effects include dizziness, headache, gastrointestinal reactions, rash, and occasionally Herxheimer's reaction. If liver damage occurs, the drug should be discontinued immediately. It is contraindicated in patients with severe heart disease, kidney disease or during pregnancy.

(2) Praziquantel (EMBAY-8440): It has high efficacy, short course of treatment, is easy to take, and has few side effects, including only mild dizziness, headache, fatigue, etc. It is a promising drug for the treatment of paragonimiasis. Dosage: 25 mg/kg each time, 3 times/day, orally, for 2 to 3 days. Patients with cerebral type should take another course of treatment after a one-week break.

(3) Hexachloroparaxylene (Xuefang-846): It also has a good therapeutic effect on paragonimiasis. Dosage: 30 mg ~ 50 mg/kg, taken daily or every other day, 10 to 15 treatment days as a course of treatment.
