What medicine can reduce swelling of feet

The feet are a part of the body that is particularly prone to swelling. When you walk too much and feel particularly tired, your feet will swell. For pregnant women, because of their double body, their feet cannot bear the weight of the body and will also swell. Sitting or standing for long periods of time can also cause swelling of the feet. Poor kidney and liver function can also cause swelling of the feet. So what medicine can reduce swelling of the feet?

What to eat to reduce swelling in feet fastest

1. Eat a high-protein, low-salt diet

High-quality protein should be consumed every day, such as poultry, livestock, meat, fish, seafood, shellfish, eggs, milk and dairy products, soy products (such as soy milk, tofu, dried tofu, vegetarian chicken, bean buns, dried shredded vegetables), etc. These foods are cooked with fresh ingredients and strong-flavored vegetables, such as onions, tomatoes, garlic, fennel, celery, coriander, mushrooms, wolfberries, red dates, black dates, lemons, vinegar, bay leaves, etc., which can reduce the amount of salt used.

2. Eat enough fruits and vegetables

Vegetables and fruits contain many vitamins and trace elements necessary for the human body. They can enhance the body's resistance, strengthen metabolism, and also have detoxification and diuretic effects. Expectant mothers should not forget to eat vegetables and fruits every day.

Causes of edema in pregnant women

1. The main cause of edema in pregnant women is that the enlarged uterus compresses the veins, causing obstruction of venous return.

2. Starting from the 6th week of pregnancy, blood volume gradually increases, reaches a peak at 34 weeks, and remains at this level until two weeks after delivery, when it returns to pre-pregnancy levels. During pregnancy, blood volume increases by about 40% compared to the non-pregnant period. As blood volume increases, interstitial fluid will also increase.

3. During pregnancy, the hormones secreted by the placenta and aldosterone secreted by the adrenal glands of expectant mothers increase, causing sodium and water retention in the body. The water accumulates in the body, leading to a decrease in urine volume, resulting in edema.

4. As the uterus enlarges, the pressure in the pelvis increases, affecting the venous blood flow in the lower limbs. However, if this type of edema is relieved after rest or sleep, it is mostly physiological.

5. The amount of blood increases, and the increase in plasma is greater than the increase in blood cells, so the blood components will be relatively diluted, and the relative concentration of plasma albumin will also be lower than that in the non-pregnant period. Plasma albumin is the main component for maintaining plasma osmotic pressure. The plasma osmotic pressure during pregnancy is lower than that during gestational age, which makes it easy for water in the bloodstream to penetrate into the interstitial fluid, thus causing lower limb edema.
