What is cranial CTA examination

Head CT scan is a common examination in hospitals, but the cost of this examination is relatively high. Since this examination is more detailed, it can see all parts of our head, but it is not suitable for people with special physical conditions, such as pregnant women, because this examination has a lot of radiation. So what is head CTA?

What is a head CT scan?

Head and neck CTA examination, vascular CT angiography of the head and neck, uses contrast agent for comparison examination, which allows for clearer viewing. A contrast agent is rapidly injected into the subject's veins, circulates through the human blood, and is scanned within the time when the contrast agent concentration in the blood vessels (arteries and veins) reaches its peak. A three-dimensional image of the blood vessels is reconstructed through post-processing on the workstation. CT vascular imaging can simultaneously display lesions inside and outside the cerebral blood vessels and on the walls of the blood vessels, and can achieve both large-scale vascular imaging and detailed imaging of small blood vessels and small branches.

The head CTA examination is a type of CT vascular imaging. It found that one side of the vertebral artery was thinned. This may be congenital, or it may be caused by atherosclerotic plaques or thrombosis, so a detailed analysis is needed.
