What kind of medicine should I use to clean my eyes?

When the eyes are diseased, in order to recover faster, you should often use medicine to clean the eyes, or you can also flush the eyes with running clean water. This way, the secretions in the eyes can be cleared in time, which greatly reduces the infectiousness and is very helpful for later treatment. Let's take a look at what medicine to use to clean the eyes?

First, what kind of medicine should be used to clean the eyes? The purpose of flushing: one is to flush with medicine, which has bactericidal and anti-inflammatory effects and is used to treat eye diseases; the other is to flush with water to wash away a large amount of mucopurulent secretions in the conjunctival sac of the eyes, because these secretions contain a large number of purulent bacteria. A large amount of secretions is not only easy to be transmitted to humans, but also affects treatment. Another is to flush out foreign matter in the eye. If foreign matter, such as sand or dust, enters the eyes, the conjunctival sac needs to be flushed. Generally, 1-2% sterilized saline can be used, but the amount of flushing should not be too much.

Second, if various acidic or alkaline solutions or other irritating substances enter the eyes, the eyes will immediately produce obvious irritation symptoms and should be flushed and given first aid immediately to avoid burns to the eyes. In order to save time, you can take a washbasin of tap water, soak the eyes in the water, and then ask the patient to rotate the eyeballs up and down and left and right, and then rotate the upper and lower eyelids with your hands so that the upper and lower curvatures can be fully rinsed. After rinsing, wipe off any water drops on your face and the corners of your hair with a cotton ball. After the first aid is completed, you must go to the hospital as soon as possible to see a doctor and receive further treatment. The more timely the first aid and the more thorough the flushing, the lighter and smaller the damage caused. When rinsing, you can also use a flushing pot or teapot. If you don’t have time, you can get a basin of tap water to rinse quickly.

Third, when flushing the eyes, let the patient sit on a chair with his head on the back of the chair, or against the wall with his head tilted upward, or let the patient lie flat on the bed. Then, ask the patient to take a kidney plate or bowl and place it on the cheek of the eye to be washed, close to it to receive the flushing water. When flushing, hold the eyewash pot or teapot in your right hand and use the thumb and index finger of your left hand to gently separate the patient's upper and lower eyelids. The temperature of the flushing solution should be appropriate, preferably 32℃ to 37℃. When flushing, do not use too much force. First, flush the water on the skin of the eyelids, and then slowly move to the conjunctival sac. At this time, ask the patient to rotate the eyeball up and down, left and right, and then flip the upper and lower eyelids. Rinse with water so that the upper and lower curved parts can also be fully rinsed. Rinse for 1 to 2 minutes each time. Do not close your eyes when flushing and do not flush water directly onto the cornea. After rinsing, use a cotton ball to wipe away any drops of water on the patient's face and corners of the eyes.

What kind of medicine is used to clean the eyes? For patients with acute catarrhal conjunctivitis, because there is a lot of secretion in the patient's eyes, 1-2% saline can be used for flushing.
