People who often don't like to drink water and like to hold their urine are particularly prone to urinary system diseases, especially urethral stones, urethral stenosis and other diseases. A urethrogram is a special imaging test used to detect disorders of the urinary system. Many people think that urethrography will be very painful and are very resistant to it. So how to do urethrography? Let’s take a closer look at this. Indications 1. Congenital urethral lesions such as stenosis, stones, and urethral obstruction. 2. Enlarged prostate. Contraindications 1. Acute inflammatory infection of the urethra. 2. Allergy to contrast agent. Imaging Methods Retrograde urethrography (I) Scope of application: The anterior urethra is narrow and the catheter is difficult to insert into the bladder. (II) Preparation before angiography 1.Same as cystography. 2. Catheter, syringe, and sterilized gloves. 3. Contrast drugs and dosage 10-25% diatrizoate or sodium diatrizoate 15-20ml (IV) Specific operation methods and filming locations 1. The patient lies supine on the X-ray machine and the catheter is inserted into the front end of the urethra. Pinch the glans tightly. Or insert the syringe nipple directly into the external urethral opening and place it close to the external urethral opening to prevent the contrast agent from overflowing. 2. Then have the patient lie in a 45-degree tilt to either side, with the leg closest to the bed bent and the opposite leg straight. Straighten the penis perpendicular to the long axis of the body. 3. Place the film and align the tube ball. 4. Expose when the contrast agent injection is almost complete. Voiding urethrography (I) Scope of application This method keeps the urethra in a relaxed state throughout, which is more satisfactory for observing urethral stenosis, especially posterior urethral stenosis, fistula and congenital valve malformation of the posterior urethra. (II) Preparation before angiography Same as cystography 3. Contrast drugs and dosage 400ml of 10-25% diatrizoate or sodium diatrizoate. (IV) Specific operation methods Disinfect the urethral opening. A urinary catheter is inserted into the bladder. Drain all urine. Inject contrast medium until the bladder is completely filled and the patient stops when he or she feels lower abdominal distension and begins to urinate. (V) Radiographic Position 1. Upright and oblique positions. Remove the catheter and ask the patient to urinate quickly and forcefully, and expose the patient when the urination speed is the fastest. 2. At the end of IvP, the patient can be asked to urinate and the film can be taken during urination, with the body position the same as above. |
