How to remove tea stains from cups?

In life, many people like to drink tea, but people who drink tea frequently know that after drinking tea for a long time, a layer of tea scale will appear on the tea cup. Generally, everyone knows that tea scale is difficult to remove, and there are many metal toxic substances in tea scale. If these substances adhere to the surface of the tea cup, these toxic substances will enter the digestive system of people when they drink tea and be absorbed by people, which will cause damage to people's stomach and intestines.

Since tea scale poses such a great threat to health, tea lovers should develop good habits, rinse with clean water after drinking tea, and maintain a clean tea drinking environment and utensils. What should you do if your tea set is already full of tea stains but you are reluctant to throw it away? How to remove tea stains and how to clean tea sets correctly?

Usually you need to choose the cleaning method according to the different materials of the tea set. Commonly used tea sets are generally made of glass, ceramics, purple clay, metal and other materials. Because tea sets are utensils that come into direct contact with the mouth, for safety reasons, it is not recommended to use chemical agents such as detergents, bleaches, disinfectants, etc. Instead, it is recommended to use some edible foods or daily necessities in daily life as cleaning agents.

Glass & Ceramic Tea Sets

Glass is crystal clear and is the best utensil for appreciating tea soup. In the process of brewing Pu'er tea, fairness cups and elegant cups are mostly made of glass. Ceramics are also commonly used tea sets, mostly as teacups, teapots, and covered bowls.

Method 1: Rinse the tea set to be washed with water, then squeeze a small piece of toothpaste on your finger and apply the toothpaste on the inner wall of the tea set, especially where there is severe tea stains. Then, brush it gently with a toothbrush a few times, or rub it back and forth with a wrung-out tea towel to remove the tea stains. Principle: Toothpaste usually contains a certain amount of abrasives, and you can feel the granularity in the toothpaste with your hands. By the way, I would like to remind everyone not to use too high-end toothpaste. The cheaper the toothpaste, the more abrasives it contains, and it is easier to remove tea stains.

Method 2: Rinse the cup with water (without leaving any water), then rub dry salt back and forth on the wall of the cup, and then rinse off the salt with clean water. Whether it is table salt or coarse salt, it can help us remove tea stains on the cup. Salt has a good bactericidal effect, but if you happen to have small wounds on your hands, it is recommended to give up this method to avoid salt irritating the wound and causing pain.

Purple sand tea set (including purple pottery)

The purple clay teapot is an excellent utensil for brewing Pu'er tea, especially aged tea. In the past, people believed that the thicker the tea stains in the purple clay, the better. Science has proven this to be wrong. Purple clay has a certain adsorption capacity and cannot be cleaned with chemicals, vinegar or toothpaste.

Method 1: First pour a sufficient amount of edible alkali (soda, pure alkali, sodium carbonate) into the container to be cleaned, and then pour freshly boiled water into the container. After soaking for 10 to 20 minutes, take it out and wash it. Use a soft-bristled brush to brush the fine details.

Method 2: After chopping the potatoes, put them in a pot, pour in hot water and soak them for about 10 minutes, then you can easily wash off the tea stains in the pot. The principle is: there is starch in potatoes, and these starches have strong adsorption capacity, so it is easy to remove the tea stains in the cup.

Metal tea set

Generally, the filter for brewing Pu'er tea is made of metal. In addition, iron kettles are also used to boil old tea. Metal is very easy to oxidize and becomes black after producing tea scale. It is difficult to clean it with a neutral detergent. Therefore, acidic detergents are needed. For example, vinegar and lemon are good choices and relatively safe. Simply soak the tea set in vinegar (white vinegar) or lemon juice (pure juice, not beverage) for 2-3 hours, brush it lightly with a soft-bristle brush, and then rinse it with water to remove the tea stains.
