How to make earwax come out by itself

Earwax is impurities in the ear, but it is also indispensable for protecting the eardrum. Many people think that too much earwax in the ear will affect their hearing, so when they feel the earwax falling on the eardrum and making a sound, they will want to pick it out. In fact, it is wrong to pick earwax frequently. It will hurt the ears and bring bacteria into the ear canal, causing ear inflammation. So how do you make the earwax come out by itself?

Why can't I get the earwax out?

"Iron earwax" refers to a kind of hard earwax similar to fermented black beans, which is mostly formed by long-term accumulation. Some people have particularly active cerumen secretions, and the earwax cannot be discharged. It gradually dries up and gathers into dark brown lumps, as hard as stone, which tightly block the external auditory canal and cannot come out.

Iron earwax can cause hearing loss. The secretions are mostly brown and hard, but some are soft like date paste. When completely blocked, ear stuffiness, tinnitus, and hearing loss will occur. If water enters the external auditory canal, the symptoms may worsen and ear pain will often occur. If it is complicated by external otitis or external auditory canal furuncle, the pain will be more obvious.

Therefore, when you find that you cannot get the earwax out, you should find a way to get it out as soon as possible to avoid complications in the future. It will be more difficult to get it out when the ear canal is inflamed.

How to get rid of "iron earwax"

If you can't get the earwax out by force, you can go to the ENT department of the hospital to see a doctor to confirm the severity of the "iron earwax". If it is not very serious, you can just use tools to remove it. In severe cases, you need to drip relief liquids, such as sesame oil, into the ear. Then go to the hospital after about a week to have the doctor remove the embolism.

Be careful to avoid forcibly removing earwax to prevent damaging the eardrum and causing deafness, pain and injury. It is best to go to the hospital for a doctor's diagnosis.

Don't pick earwax casually

Earwax is a sticky, oily substance that absorbs dust in the air and prevents it from entering the ear. Earwax tastes bitter and has a unique bitter smell that repels flying insects from entering the ear, thereby protecting the ear canal from being attacked by foreign objects.

Earwax also has the functions of sound insulation and vibration reduction, and is very beneficial for protecting the eardrum. Earwax guards the gate of the external auditory canal, in front of the eardrum. When sound waves come from it, the earwax will "process" the sound waves, slowly transmitting the sound into the eardrum to prevent the eardrum from being directly impacted by the sound waves, and to avoid damage or even rupture due to severe vibrations. Thereby effectively protecting people's hearing ability.

At the same time, earwax can also prevent water from entering the ear, keep the ear canal dry, and prevent symptoms such as ear inflammation caused by water entering the ear.

In fact, we don’t need to worry about too much earwax clogging our ears. After earwax dries naturally and accumulates to a certain level, it will fall off and be excreted from the body as the human body walks, talks, shakes its head, chews, yawns and other activities.

It can be seen that earwax is still very beneficial to the human body. On the contrary, frequent ear cleaning can easily cause some ear diseases, especially cleaning children's ears is the most dangerous and harmful. Therefore, please do not clean your child's ears.

If you want to remove earwax, you can roll up a cotton swab with absorbent cotton and gently clean it out; you can also use an ear canal spoon to gently remove the earwax. If your ear canal itches, you can gently massage the tragus in front of the external auditory canal with your fingers.
