The usual dose of minocycline is 0.2 g/d for adults and 4 mg/(kg·d) for children, taken once a day or divided into 2 doses. The first dose can be doubled. The course of treatment is 8 to 10 days. Tetracyclines should not be used in children under 8 years old, pregnant women, and lactating women.

What is the drug of choice for treating scrub typhus? Macrolides, tetracyclines and chloramphenicol have strong inhibitory and killing effects on scrub typhus Rickettsia, and the patient's body temperature returns to normal within 24 hours of taking the medicine. Treatment with quinolones can also reduce the patient's body temperature to normal within 24 to 48 hours. Usually only one antibacterial drug is needed, and combination therapy is not necessary.
