How many years can I wear an IUD?

For some friends who use IUDs, they may not know that they need to be replaced. Last time we introduced the circumstances under which the IUD needs to be replaced. Today we will talk about how many years the IUD can be worn. In fact, if you have an IUD installed in a regular hospital, the general usage period is 5-10 years. After the expiration of the period, it is best to replace the IUD.

The IUD is declared by the family planning department to be "quite popular among women" because it can achieve the purpose of contraception without affecting sexual life. It is easy to insert and remove, "safe and effective", and has "mild" adverse reactions. Currently, the compulsory insertion of this ring has become an important measure for women to take for postpartum contraception.

Generally speaking, IUD insertion will not cause gynecological diseases, but the prerequisite is to do relevant examinations before the operation. If there is inflammation, such as pelvic inflammatory disease and vaginitis, it must be cured before the IUD is inserted.

Common side effects after IUD insertion: Since a foreign object is placed in the uterus, it takes some time for the body to gradually adapt. Therefore, some women may experience mild back pain, a small amount of vaginal bleeding, and increased leucorrhea during this period. Therefore, you need to rest for 3 days after the operation, avoid doing heavy physical work within 1 week, avoid sitting baths and sexual intercourse within 2 weeks, and then go to the hospital for regular check-ups.

Situations where the ring should not be placed

Women with acute pelvic inflammatory disease, acute vaginitis, severe cervical erosion, excessive or irregular menstrual bleeding, uterine fibroids, and narrow cervical opening should not have the ring inserted, otherwise it will lead to worsening inflammation and increased menstrual flow.

1. Situations where IUD cannot be used

There may be a small amount of vaginal bleeding or mild back pain and abdominal distension in the first few days after the ring is placed, which will usually disappear naturally within a few days and do not require treatment. If there is heavy bleeding and abdominal pain, the cause should be identified and treated.

After the IUD is placed, a follow-up examination should be conducted after the next menstruation, and a pelvic fluoroscopy or B-ultrasound examination can also be performed. Check again after 3 months, and then once a year thereafter.

3. In what cases should the IUD be removed?
