How to prove that I am not a psychopath

How to prove that I am not a psychopath

Suffering from neurosis is likely to be a result of severe psychological disorders, which lead to abnormalities in the patient's thinking, cognition, behavior, and emotions. If you want to know whether you have a neurological disease, you need to undergo special tests, but you can also make simple self-diagnoses through some methods. If you find any abnormalities, you need to go to the hospital for professional identification.

Differentiating between psychological problems and mental illness

Almost everyone may encounter psychological disorders, such as emotional fluctuations and disorders caused by a broken heart, failing an exam, and interpersonal conflicts, loss of interest, disrupted life patterns, and even abnormal behavior and personality deviations caused by a bad mood over a period of time. These emotional disorders caused by real-life problems become psychological disorders. For problems like these, most people tend to adjust themselves or seek help from parents, relatives, friends, teachers, etc. If these adjustment methods are still ineffective, you need to seek help from a psychologist.

In addition, psychological counseling is also applicable to neurosis, including obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety disorder, phobia, hypochondriasis, neurasthenia and personality problems, as well as psychophysiological disorders (i.e. psychosomatic diseases), psychological disorders caused by organic diseases of the nervous system, children's emotional disorders, learning disabilities, various intellectual development abnormalities, etc.

Mental illness refers to a general term for diseases in which the brain's functional activities become disordered, leading to varying degrees of disorders in mental activities such as cognition, emotion, behavior and will. There are many factors that cause the disease: congenital heredity, personality traits and physical factors, organic factors, social environmental factors, etc. Many mental patients have delusions, hallucinations, illusions, emotional disorders, crying and laughing at random, talking to themselves, strange behavior, and weakened will. The vast majority of patients lack self-awareness, do not admit that they are ill, and do not actively seek help from a doctor. (Ordinary people also do not admit that they are ill, so lack of self-awareness and non-admission of illness cannot be used as the basis for determining mental illness).

Common mental illnesses include: schizophrenia, manic-depressive psychosis, menopausal psychosis, paranoid psychosis, and mental illnesses associated with various organic diseases. Patients and their families should actively cooperate with psychiatrists and go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.

There are also many people who always like to say to others in a mocking tone: "You are mentally ill." In fact, neuropathy refers to organic lesions of the central nervous system and peripheral nerves. These lesions often have obvious symptoms such as pain, numbness, sensory loss, paralysis and/or signs of localization of the nervous system, and the location of the lesions can be found through medical instruments such as brain CT, MRI, etc. Common neurological diseases include: encephalitis, meningitis, cerebral cysticercosis, cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral infarction, epilepsy, brain tumors, myasthenia gravis, etc. Patients should seek diagnosis and treatment from a neurology or neurosurgery department.

Psychological problems are divided into general psychological problems and serious psychological problems. In addition to serious psychological problems, it is also necessary to distinguish between serious psychological problems and mental illness. If they fall into the category of mental illness, they need to be provided with special treatment by a psychologist or psychiatrist with prescription rights, especially drug treatment.

There are three generally recognized principles for judging illness and non-illness in the psychology and psychiatry circles, namely:

First, whether hallucinations (such as auditory hallucinations, visual hallucinations, etc.) or delusions occur;

Second, whether there are problems with self-cognition and whether one is able or willing to accept psychological or psychiatric treatment;

Second, whether emotions and cognition are distorted and confused, whether knowledge, emotion and intention are unified, and whether social functions are seriously damaged (that is, whether behavioral emotions have seriously deviated from rational control).

The emphasis is on whether hallucinations and delusions and emotions are perverted and confused. The judgment of whether there is self-cognition should be based on these two important judgments.
